Enjoy, I have done the Augusta to Phoenix twice.. wasn't fun.
Oh and my king of road trips, Fairbanks Alaska to St. Louis Missouri.. and 2 months later I flew back up to Fairbanks and then drove to Phoenix.. Needless to say 7+ day drives are a true test of car/driver. Stay safe sir

Be safe and good luck. Make sure to take a few extra gallons of drinking water with you just in case.

Yeah, man...this rain has been hell! My grass loves it, but jeez! Will it ever stop so I can wash my car and be able to drive around in a CLEAN black car?!?! We have so many flooded roads right now. We just started moving the barricades from the roadway yesterday night. But, the rain looks like it isn't letting up anytime soon. Still have more showers in the forecast. The local news station said today that this is the second rainiest summer we have ever had recorded on record. I haven't washed the SS in at least two months or more (other than the super fast wash I gave it last week...and it started raining again while I was drying it.:( ). |

yeah man I know that it was crazy. I was on I-10 the whole way, and there was standing water on the highway. but in AZ they dont have storm drains because rain is rare, but yesterday all the creeks and stuff overflowed into the streets. man I had to drive through rain that almost came to my bumper. but my uncles sup'ed up jeep had to go through 2-3 feet of water. was kinda fun

I remember driving through New Mexico on the hwy in pouring rain. We were in my bro's Toyota truck. We were barely doing 15 mph in the rain because it was all flowing onto the hwy. It was rediculous...and the fact he had 33" mudding tires wasn't helping to channel the water out of the tires either. It was slow....very slow.... Glad you made it through.

Hey that is a nice drive. I have driven from California to Georgia and back, and to Missouri and Cali back twice. That is one helluva a drive but I like it.
Sucks to hear about the rain. The highway between Flagstaff and Albuquerque is my favorite stretch. From Kingman, AZ to Needles, CA isn't too bad either. I also used to live in Tacoma, WA. Washington is a pretty nice place especially this time of year. Are you in the military headed to Fort Lewis?
