A10 Short Shifting on Track

2020 ZL1 (not a 1LE)

I was on the track this past weekend and have some strange behavior that I haven't encountered before. I got the transmission drained and filled at the dealer prior to the event.

The A10 appeared to be short shifting, and not sure what could be the cause. At WOT it would upshift early before redline.
In braking zones it would exit performance shifting mode and enter performance shifting mode causing weird shifts.
If I put it in manual mode, it would upshift early without me touching the paddles. I didn't have problems until the car got hot. First couple laps there would be no issues. I'm combing through my PDR footage to find examples to upload the problem.
It was hot, 86-87F. I was running 93 octane.
Transmission temperature never peaked past 235F
Oil temperature never peaked past 293F. It almost appeared the trans was short shifting to prevent the oil temperature from exceeding 293. I will check the trans fluid level to see if it's overfilled. I told the dealer prior to fill that I am tracking the car. Not sure if it's knock related or not. High performance manual does say to use 100 octane when it's 86F, but I was right at that cut off. Wondering if other's had this problem. Service advisor I worked with is out to speak to about the problem

I've ran my car in 90F weather or warmer and hadn't ran into an issue where it would exit and enter performance shift mode while on track going all out. Now, if I was caught in some slower traffic or going around slow for a yellow flag then it would.

Were you in any PTM mode?

I ran into the exact same failsafe with my A10(Mustang PP1) at Daytona on a hot day, even in manual mode it would start short shifting itself once oil temps got high.(285 or 290ish) I could get 2-3 laps of full rpm but then it would just start shifting for me at about 4k rpm, was super frustrated and bought my M6 1LE the next month. The only time I miss the A10 is on track...blipping off shifts like an F1 driver was really fun I must admit!

Mustang and Camaro SS have a 10L80 and the ZL1 has a 10L90 that can take a lt more abuse before any fail-safe kicks in

I was in PTM race. I was in a lot of traffic most of the weekend, but once I noticed it shifting weird I put it in manual. With it shifting without me touching the paddles would result in me double shifting.

I read that they were different but found it interesting they both will shift for you in manual mode to protect themselves.

That's not bad but the double shift would irritate me for sure.

I would surely take it back to the dealer to ensure it's not over filled as that can cause it to act weird.

I really wish GM hadn't made it like this to change the fluid and not have a dip stick to check the level.

I agree with those who have mentioned trans fluid level

Yup, it was very irritating. Left it in auto after that.
