Chevy blazer/ 9 speed transmission?
What’s the consensus on the GM 9 speed transmission? I was hoping the blazer would basically be an suv version of the Camaro with the renounced LGX and 10 speed, but it has some 9 speed.

Not sure about the Blazer, but our Traverse has the 9 speed, so likely the same unit. It works quite well, loaded or not, towing the small boat or not, it performs quite well. Been very happy with it.

My wife's Blazer is AWD 9 speed. It has so far performed great at 20,000 miles. We have drove it in all modes but have not towed with it. It is a quick little ride for its class.

Sister has one and it scoots no doubt. Pretty close to my little Camaro in performance.
Towing with a V6? Not a lot of torque for highway speeds.

We have used it for long road trips, kids to an from college, fully loaded! Performs well. Again, Traverse, so not apples to apples. |

Same 9 speed in my wife's GMC Terrain SLT.
It's been fantastic so far. For me, would be a very positive reason for getting a Blazer.

Had my Blazer RS for almost two years now. Transmission is smooth as butter. Took it on vacation to Florida over the summer and had no issues.

The 9 and 10 speed were designed at the same time.
9 speed for front wheel drive 10 speed for rear wheel drive

Incredibly glad to hear all this! That puts the blazer toward the top of my suv list. I find the LGX to be somewhat of a unicorn engine. It’s mpg rivals vehicles with 80 fewer hp AND it’s a solid engine. Just wish it was never mated to the 8 speed. That wouldn’t be so bad, but prices don’t reflect the 8 speed’s issues, even before the “apocalypse.”
