Mod Ideas For Spring '23

So now that I finally have my first phase of my build done right, I'm already thinking / budgeting for the next phase.

Personal goal would be 850-900whp.

I want to do a ported magnuson 2650 + heads. I think that will get me there?

Heres a recap of my current build...

BTR Stage II supercharged cam
2in texas speed headers
5in rotofab intake
nick williams 103mm throttle body
2.3 upper
9.45 lower
3in borla atak exhaust.
DSX lowside
Flex Fuel sensor

This build makes 740whp on kum&go E70.

Are there any supporting mods I should do in addition like building the trans (I have the 10spd) ?

Any help would be appreciated as I try to budget this out.

You’ll need more fueling to run that power level with E. Either port injection or LPE BB HPFP and bigger injectors. You won’t need to do the heads to get to that level but no downside to doing them aside from money of course.

appreciate the info on heads...are they really not that much of a power adder then? is there any benefit having them?

Also what's the price difference between port injection and injectors? If I went port injection, would that mean I could get the LT5 blower instead?

Heads are worth some power and are a good call on a max effort car. 850-900 WHP can be done without heads was my point. Fueling is more important at this point for your build.

It’s cheaper long term to run port injection I’d guess. I have LPE BB HPFP and +52 injectors which is roughly $6500 and car makes just under 1K WHP and they’re almost out of fuel again. I like the simplicity and only tuning one ECM with the DI stuff. But figure out your long term goals first! That way you’re not buying stuff two or three times like I did. If I had to do it again, I would have went port from day one. But at your level, you could do +30 injectors plus the LPE pump for under $5K and be fine.

You can run port injection with any blower. Check out the TooHighPSI website. His plates can be run with pretty much any blower out there. Or you can have the blower drilled to accept the port injectors. I know Crawford Racing does it for the Whipple and I think the Edelbrock 2650 can be drilled too. Doesn’t make a difference which way you go in regards to drilling or running the plates.

Alrighty guys so I just pulled the trigger. I bought the magnuson 2650 along with port plate system, reflex plus port fuel harness (lt application), FIC 1000 injectors, and unlocked tcm.

I don't have heads done. I don't have meth.

How much power do you guys think I'll make now?

Congrats on the purchase. I think you'll still make around your goal as far as power is concerned. It'll all depend on how well those parts play nice with each other, weather conditions and how aggressive your tuner is. However, what are your plans for putting that power down? It didn't see anything in your mod list that indicated that portion was addressed. Albeit I know this was a "can I make X-power on this build" kind of post.

As long as the low side can deliver the juice, I think you'll sittin' pretty at the high end of your goal, maybe higher. Driveshaft next?

Yes I was gonna upgrade tires in the spring but unfortunately a few weeks ago I received a flat in the rear that forced my hand, I'm currently on 325 R888r's out back

I've done some more research, looks like I should see 900+whp easy which is crazy! Pump I'd probably be 850ish I imagine, definitely over 900 on E85 which is what I typically run.

Just noting that they are out of fuel because you didn't go with a large enough fuel lobe to maximize the potential of the LPE HPFP. That is where most limit themselves by getting a 32% lobe when the LPE can be driven up to 43%. I know you know this but it should be noted anyway.

Yep, totally agree! Didn’t know I was doing the LPE HPFP when I did the cam. Oops!
