progressive insurance

so, I've had them for a minute now, with no problems. 4 vehicles (camaro included), and another policy.

I just got a notice saying I'm canceled for the camaro ss and my genesis track edition after the next renewal date (december 2019), due to tracking my vehicles.

I understand typical car insurance won't cover vehicles during a track event, I've known this, that's why I buy track coverage separately for any vehicle I track, but this is the first I've ever heard, from any insurance provider, straight up canceling coverage due to it.

anyone else heard of this?

Just out of curiosity, do you buy the track event coverage from Progressive? Just wondering how they know you take the car to track events in the first place.

I have heard of this happening in general. If you ask an employee about the policy covering track use or they see your license plate in public pictures showing the car on track they could figure it out. They could even send someone to track days to check VIN numbers on parked cars.

This. I simply asked if they had track coverage insurance. they assumed for the camaro ss, genesis track edition, but not my kia forte5 or toyota yaris.

my notice basically said they would not be offering renewal after the current period based on commercial vehicle use.

I had to call and find out what they meant by commercial use.

you say you've heard of this in general? meaning you've heard of insurance companies canceling altogether due to being at the track? honest question.

I'll be looking as well. my next cycle (the next 6 months), my insurance went up $18 a month for no reason (this is before the whole track shenanigans)

nothings changed on my end, no accidents or tickets for anyone in the past 10 years at least.

I have an SS 1LE and use Progressive, but I don't track it. Who has time for hobbies with 5 kids? I hope they are not targeting 1LE.

My Xterra, 1LE, and Z1000 are all insured through progressive. Been to 7 track days with the 1LE, posted plenty of pictures online and haven't heard a peep from them. Actually I think my insurance went down this year.

From the short conversation I had with Geico, they don't "have policies that allow you to track your vehicles" either. They got off the phone quick after that question.

Am I living in a bubble? What is everyone using that allows you to actually have fun with your car?

Stop calling your insurance companies about "Track" coverage. Them dropping you shortly after asking about it is nothing new.

Just buy a supplemental policy(ex:RLI) for your track weekend if you need/want coverage.

Recently I have heard of Geico playing undercover at the local Autox and then dropping people afterwards.

Remove your plate and cover your VIN# when on track is your best bet.

I mean honestly, this makes sense. I just never thought that was the majority.

I can understand no coverage. I figured that was common knowledge, but no policy? That's new to me, seriously.
