Expect a base C8 to cost between $60-70,000 and be powered by a 6.2-liter LT2 V-8 delivering at least 500 horsepower. The 50-horse gain over today’s LT1 will come from more aggressive valve timing. The one and only transmission will be a seven-speed dual-clutch, paddle-shifted automatic supplied by Tremec. LT6 and LT8 V-8s expected later in C8’s life will climb the staircase to 1000-horsepower heaven with overhead camshafts, a flat crankshaft, and twin turbochargers. Hybridization is also part of the C8 game plan. On hybrid models, electrically driven front wheels will consume the (front) trunk space otherwise used to carry two sets of golf clubs in the base model.

You would think. But you have a lot of smart people building these cars and these engineers will whip up a solution and they’ll test it and green light it. Who knows what they’ll do...I do electrical so I don’t a damn thing about structural or mechanical engineering but I’d imagine the chassis will just be reinforced in strategic areas. Or they’ll have to use a different alloy in areas to prevent that. They’ll figure it out.

Let's hope the 7th gen Camaro is still going to get built...I would love a C8, but I just price is going to be way up there for a loaded Stingray (or base mode Vette), probably going to be well into C7 Z06 territory...hell, a C7 Stingray gets into the $70's, coupe. The 7th gen SS and ZL1 should be awesome, as well as the C8! Good times!

Don't buy new. Find yourself a low mileage cream puff that has been traded. I always said that my Camaro would be my last brand new vehicle. It's such a waste.

Last year, I bought my '17 GS with 4,000 miles on it. The previous owner got bored and wanted a Z06. He traded it in and I snatched it up for $15k off of the original price. It is absolutely mint and the guy even had a $2,500, 3M self-healing clear bra installed on 3/4 of the car. Thanks buddy!

Supposedly the frame issue was already taken care of. I can't imagine that fix needing much work.

If you want GM to engineer an entirely new V8 just for the Camaro, be prepared to pay. It's not like the first Muscle Car Era (60's/70's) where you had ~4-5 choices of V8 power and each upgrade would cost you a whole ~$100. The Camaro is priced too high as it is, IMHO. When the 6th Gen came out, I priced an exact match of my '11 (2SS convertible, manual) just for the heck of it. The sticker was $10k more than the sticker on my car. Talk about a punch in the face. I'd love to see a handful of V8 engine options (or Camaro exclusivity), but "sticker shock" would increase tenfold.

I was being serious. I actually do love Corvette hand-me-downs (including my LS3). Especially in this case if it means 500HP stock SS.
