In the market for a new car/truck

EDIT: I ENDED UP CHOOSING A ZR2 DIESEL.

SO I've got my Camaro. Love it. Not getting rid of it. Don't worry there.

My wife fell for the Sonic. 2018 Sonic Premier RS, 1.4 turbo, 6-speed manual, performance package... It's a fun enough little car. I bought it as a work-and-back car, but she's claimed it I guess. haha

SO that leaves me open to a new car.... or truck. My new job requires some driving off-road at times, so AWD is fairly mandatory. The current list I'm looking at is:

2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Diesel - (In Crush, because I'm a sucker for orange)
2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS - (Same Blue as the Sonic, I really do like that color)
2019 Buick Regal TourX Essence - (whatever the dark blue pearl is)
??????

I'm open to suggestions, as I really don't know what's out there, aside from Chevrolet/GM in general.

I have been looking and following alot on the small truck forums. For me, it would be, in this order for trucks with 4wd/V6; Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, GM Canyon.

I would love to have the Colorado on the top of the list, but with the class action lawsuit (issues with the transmission), I cannot put them first. JMO

Out of those choices, I voted Colorado but not diesel. Just me personally I don't get the hooplah over having a diesel engine in anything other than a heavy duty truck that your using to tow heavy stuff with. Especially now at least by me with diesel being about 1.50 more than gas

I have long looked at the ZR2 diesel. And on cargurus.com I spotted several for under 40K. That said, Chevy just came out with the Bison ZR2 which is even more awesome but carries a ridiculous price tag..

I think I am going to wait until the end of 2019 and see if Chevy will finally do a MCE for the 2020 Colorado.

I have a ZR2 diesel. I love it.

The Multimatic shocks are all that and more. Extremely capable off-road yet smooth and pleasant on the highway. The best of both worlds. It is the best road trip vehicle I have ever owned.

In the Camaro I live in fear of potholes... in the ZR2 I seek them out.

I agree.

If that's too much, then a 5.7 Hemi Grand Cherokee/Durango would be my next choice.

Recent 2018 Colorado Z71 V6 4wd buyer here. I love the truck overall.

The V6 engine is strong compared to the Tacoma, although the 8AT needs some calibration work due to its' propensity to up-shift too soon. Lazy acceleration unless you really get into the pedal (fuel economy). Solid feel though, nice smooth ride on most surfaces. My wife even likes to drive it. Stout 4x4 performance in both snow and sand. Infotainment system is intuitive and reliable, Apple CarPlay is there which enables Waze.

But it is lacking a few things i'd like to see in an MCE or 3rd gen. There are virtually no safety features in my 2018 (no lane assist, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, proximity sensors, etc) that you'll find elsewhere. GM also needs to get serious about interior material build quality. The brand new 2019 Silverado is getting hammered for this as well.

So I stopped by a local dealer and drove the ZR2 Diesel.... I mostly drove it because I was trying to talk myself out of it since the wife is super pestering me to get a Blazer because it looks very very good.
--I LOVE IT--
Damn, I can't believe how nice it drives, even with the knobby tires. Sales guy was super cool, let me bomb it over a few curbs, let me test the locking diffs in the back gravel lot... Yeah, it's an EXTREMELY capable vehicle. I was less than impressed with the length of time it takes the transmission to kick down, but I'm hoping a tune will address that. There's always the manual override buttons as well if need be. I wish they offered this thing with a manual trans, then it would be a no-brainer.

I looked at the Durango and a few Jeeps...... Initially they look super awesome... I just worry how the interior will hold up. Also, it's a FIAT, and I know their reputation for quality and how they treated the 2014-2016 Cherokee buyers. Hard pass on that.

Now, the only other GM vehicle I'd go for would be a 4x4 regular cab, regular box 2018 Silverado with a 4.8 or a 5.3, but that's a unicorn. (I have a small garage, so dual cab is out)

Test drove the Blazer RS today. Loved it. Definitely on my radar to replace my Escape.
