New and sos
Hey everyone!
My name is Daphne and I own a 2011 SS blacked out camaro. She’s the love of my life 🖤 I want that old school muscle car sound ... right now I have a muffler and resonator delete. She’s loud but not loud enough. I didn’t grow up with cars and I don’t know a lot, trying to learn as I go. I was thinking of getting headers but it’s overwhelming when you don’t know anything! Any advice/opinions? I appreciate in advance ☺️ Daphne |

Hi Daphne and welcome!!
nice looking car! yes, to get the sound you want you're going to want to get some headers. There are 2 types- long tube and short tube. Most opinions are that long tube headers will give more flow; more power and sound. They're harder to fit and more costly. Look around in this thread for a myriad of stories of each: https://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=11 As far as brands- that's up to your wallet. Many people here will lean towards Kooks or American Racing Headers. Both are top notch and can be had from the vendors on this site or Summit/Jegs. . I feel, in reality though, there are probably more examples of Speed Engineering headers because they're cheap, and well... they get the job done. You can find them on eBay. Don't be afraid to ask questions when they arise |

I agree that long tube headers and hi flo cats will get you on your way to the sound you are looking for. What you do after the cats is mostly personal preference. After the cats I'm just straight piped with muffler delete. It's loud but I like it. Be careful of the potential drone you could get depending on which way you decide. I had plenty with this setup so I went with j-pipes and it took care of any drone I had. Plenty of great cat back setups to choose from or just axle back setups as well. Solo Performance has a nice setup with j-pipes built in. I had an exhaust shop fabricate mine up. There's tons of sound clips of all types of exhaust setups for our cars. I'm sure most members here have clips of their exhaust setups or plenty on you tube. Congrats on the car and good luck with your search. the fun begins

Daphne, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!
