My weekend project as well... Not as good as the others here though. Maybe when I get some more time. Painted the ends to match the car. Wet sanded with 2000, the polished with #00 steel wool. Came out fairly decent.

Sent from the road...

textured ends?

I smoothed out the cast textured finish on the ends and painted them gloss black. I wet sanded the center section with 320 and 600 paper and followed it up with mothers aluminum polish to a chrome like finish. It takes alittle elbow grease but it's a cheap and affordable mod.

What did you use to smooth out the textured ends. I really want to do that to mine as well. Did you smooth out the ends by hand or some type of dremmel or what? Looks really good!

Thanks! I started out with a dremel, then went to a right angle grinder with a med. grit disc. You could probably do it with a dremel and course paper gradually working up to a fine paper. When your happy with the how smooth it is, then you can paint it or finish up by polishing with something like Mothers aluminum polish if you want the ends to match the center section. Have fun!

Looks good. That's how I did mine as well. I just didn't polish near as much. I was just trying to get a consistent finish, but didn't want the chrome look.

Yeah, im not in love with the chrome look, but it came kinda scratched/scuffed from the factory.

I might paint it crystal red

Looks awesome man, Im still considering paint one day. The threads get paint on them from the factory, might be your issue. If the car was ever in a wreck, could be a little off.
Nah, the bolts were clean. I did put locktight on them. I ended up cutting the one bolt in half and it fit just fine. And no, no wreck damage lol!! I bought it brand new off the lot ! Only had it for three months so far..
