I am preparing my self for your prediction to come true, but I have a feeling that GM took the protections off the Corvette. At least that is the indications that I got when the Z/28 came out. My prediction is that the new Tri-Y headers and perhaps other tweeks will give the new Camaro more HP and TQ than the current 'vette, BUT, those upgrades will be included in the 2016 'vette, plus an additional tweek or two, to give the 'vette owners bragging rights. Perhaps this is just wishfull thinking, but I was on your side of the fence on this argument right up until I saw the Tri-Y headers. Now I'm not so sure we won't see the same or more HP in the Camaro. Anyway, if we end up with a 450 HP LT1 around 3700-3725 lbs., I will still be happy. I just will be MORE happy with 470HP |

I don't think he is saying they are but if the Camaro comes out with more HP than the Corvette they will probably be saying that. His speculation of how they will react.

If anything I see the C7 getting an hp bump also. No need to underpower the Camaro to save the C7. C7 owners don't care as they know their car is still faster.

Then quietly, when the 2016 Corvette is announced it will quietly have the same number and actually beat the Camaro into production.

1) Tow Hook Receivers (lots of us like to hit the track these days) 2) Smaller than 20" wheels (for possible weight savings and cheaper tires to destroy at the track) 3) PDR like the new Corvette has 4) sharks with laser beams |

Most test mules from GM have had tow hooks on them.

ok, but is this a test mule? I think this is pretty much the prototype that we will see as consumers - but i suppose they could still have it for the prototype and not for production - I guess we'll see.
Does your Stingray come with at least a receiver? If not I guess Camaro would not get one either. Last edited by DenverTaco07; 04-03-2015 at 09:55 AM. |

3700 1LS -200 Chasis reduction -140 Replace DI V6 with Ecotec I4 ~3360 lbs is a dirty guess at the curb weight of an I4 Camaro (they are still doing an I4 variant, correct?). When you put the expected power/weight ratio of that model against a Scion FR-S and combine the Photoshop work by those trying to decamo the test mules, it looks like the bottom end Camaro could end up being compared to formerly lesser vehicles. The wide range of models that could be offered will put the Camaro in comparisons with more than just the Challenger & Mustang next year. |

IIRC European versions are required to have provisions for a tow hook, so the odds are the US versions would have the same provisions. The tow hook would not be installed by default, but the chassis mounting location would still be there possibly behind the bumper, but still present.

I don't think, based on cursory web search, that the Stingray has a receiver for hook - so this is sort of worrisome for those that plan on tracking their 6amaro. I would think this should be a no brainer for Chevy to add this to their performance line but who knows.
