I dunno. Chevrolet has been very inconsistent with naming various Corvette trims. No name seems to carry on for more than two gens in a row. PLEASE Chevy, keep this as the Z06!!

All of you that think it is going to be a Z07 will be wrong. I'm looking forward to writing a thread titled "I Told You So" when they call it a Z06.

It was a Z06 on the C2, it will be a Z06 on the C7.

In 1963 they sold 199, "Z06 Special performance equipment," optioned Vetts.

The option had a MSRP of $1818.45 on top of a base price of $4252.00 for coupes. Later in the model year it was offered on convertibles for $1293.95, but it didn't have the 36 gallon fuel tank, or knock off wheels.

I'm surprised no one connected the dots between the "Z06" and its "replacement"...the "ZR1" Packages...

Z06, as per the history here, was essentially a near-race-ready highest hp smallblock C2 in 1963. So it was, too, for the ZR1 in the C3 from 1970 thru '72...

http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs...t-Corvette.pdf See Page 5 of the pdf

So the ZR1 name extends thru 3 generations as well: C3, C4 (LT5 DOHC V8, '90-'95), and C6. And I suspect it's a safe bet to reappear as a C7...

Yes, to all that was previously stated, but I would venture to say it would be called a ZO MG! :p
