Yeah I would think. The factory uses the tape weights and they’re a dark grey but not black. These new ones aren’t tape, I’m not sure what they’re called but they’re not the clips, still stick on inside the rim. I was told I could paint them but I don’t think it’s really worth it unless I start noticing it often.

I bought a set of black wheel weights and will hand it to the tire shop next time, not gonna argue or take any excuses.

The previous owner of my 1LE wheels apparently took his car to places where they gouged up the paint as they removed old weights from the barrels, I'll have to fix that as well. You know, just for esthetics, this is my forever Camaro after all

i installed ExtremeContact™ DWS06 Plus last weekend on all 4 tires and they feel way better than the stock tires. i replaced stock tires at 10k and there were barely any threads left.

I hear ya ! My all season run flats wore out at 27 k miles. I put on general g- max summer tires. Made it feel like a different car. Run flats are a bad idea, at least on this car. I have Bridgestone potenza summers on now, they are awesome.

For all weather tires: Continental DWS06+

For summer tires: Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02, or Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.

Personally I have been eyeing the Sport 02 tires as they were built to compete with the PS4S at a cheap price point. That being said, they apparently don't make PS4S in 1LE sizes and im not sure what size people end up going with.

EDIT* Discount Tire is now showing the PS4S in the correct size, for some reason the other day it was showing as not an option.

But of course they do make them, I found it on tirerack after entering 2018 2SS 1LE as my car, see below (never mind the Manhattan zip code I entered, just a kneejerk habit ). This is not an endorsement btw, these PS4S tires should be available everywhere.

Got it, for some reason when I tried to view it on Discount Tire the other day it was saying they didn't make them in that size, but they are showing up now, with 3 different model designations, the cheapest still being about $150 more than the Sport 02s.

I will probably go with the new Sport 02 in the next couple of months. Very good reviews online between them and the PS4S.

I would prefer to only replace one but want to know if I’m going to run into any potential issues?

I have fidelity roadside hazard package as well, but I’m not sure they would cover 2. Tires are stock Camaro 1SS Goodyear tires.
Best dollar for dollar value is the Cooper RS3.

So I’m a bit annoyed and should have just taken the two tire replacement advice. Issue is I brought it up to the dealership service advisor multiple times, saying how I was concerned about the tread depth difference, and he was hard on having me replace just one and not two. After replacing the car was turning to the right (left back tire was replaced) so I brought it back for an alignment. They had trouble aligning it and said I might need a second tire but then when they finished they said it was good and I didn’t need to.

After driving it for about a week I checked the tire tread difference in the rear and there is about a 4-5 mm difference. Just to recap, I had that one tire at around 5,500 miles.

Any advice on what I should do? I want to take good care of this car and at this point I already used up the warranty from original replacement by the dealership. Is tire shaving a good option? Do I just leave it alone? I’m pretty OCD so I notice very subtle things and sometimes it feels like it’s not driving perfectly straight and other times it feels fine and I could just be over-analyzing.

Also, is the dealership liable for giving me bad advice?

I've had the general g-max and the BFG comp2 plus on the SS. Both all season tires.
I think the BFG's are the better water-shedding tire for Florida. My son went to school there and had them on his G37.
Don't doubt the conti and michelins are great tires. But I did spare set of SS wheels, 4 tires, wall rack to hold my extra set of wheels, plus mount and balance charges for about $1800.

To be totally honest, I think you are overthinking this and if it was me I would just drive your SS and enjoy the car. When the need comes for new tires then buy all 4. I have been in a situation like yours more than once and it’s no big deal at least to me it wasn’t. Question, how could the dealership be held responsible for advice they gave you? Ultimately it’s your word against theirs unless you have something in writing. If your OCD won’t stop bothering you then buy another new tire and call it done. 👍

As others have said the stock run flats are relatively annoying tires with decent warm weather dry grip, which is their strongest feature.
I would drive the car until you can't live with the crappy wet handling and then replace all 4 tires. I lived with the run-flats until they wore down. But my Camaro is in New Jersey. I would not want those tires in Florida, where I also spend a good bit of time.
After my first attempted winter with the run flats, I bought the 2nd set of wheels and mounted all seasons which I used the cold half of the year. In Florida, you can go summer or all-season year 'round.

It’s not too bad though, only really noticeable when the weights are towards the ground side when parked.
When I used to go to a shop to have my wheels done I would always bring my own black wheel weights (Amazon Black 1/4 oz wheel weights). I would also remove the pre-existing weights beforehand because they don't care. Taking off the previous weights they will gouge the wheel and take paint with it. Found that out the hard way.
