DEPOSIT?

So did you guys give the minimum deposit required at your dealership?
Do you guys think it makes a difference if you give a bigger deposit versus a small deposit?
I would like to know what the minimum was at your dealerships?
I gave a 15k deposit and the minimum was $2500.
I was promised in writing MSRP pricing and fully refundable deposit.

I put down 1000.00. I wasn't asked for more, I know my dealer well though, so there is no reason for them to doubt my intentions. I could pay for the whole car upfront if I had to, but at this point its not necessary.

With that amount I would have done the minimum and put the rest in a savings account to draw intrest until time to purchase the car.

Send a message via AIM to Mr. Wyndham
Z.E.R.O. here.

It varies dealer-to-dealer.

.

I was told $1000.00, but they won't take it until they place the order.

A simple handshake should be all that is required.

If everyone was considerate and honest we wouldn't need police or lawyers.

Your statement is correct in the context that we live in a perfect world. It would be nice in many ways, but then my conscience wouldn't allow me to break the speed limit.

According to Becky D $1,000 is about the norm.
Another local dealer says they do not collect a deposit because of "horror" stories..
IE one time they collected a deposit on a car, and the guy that had ordered the car passed away....
The family tried to get the deposit back after the car was delivered to the dealer.... Long of the short...They no longer collect deposits.
Did any of you guys have to go through any kind of credit check at all just curious?
Some do!

No credit check since I'm a previous customer.

I guess it just depends on how bad do you want the car and what are you willing to do to make sure you secure your allocation, as you can see I was desperate but I won't pay a mark up and that's in writing!

500 deposit for 2012 2LT M6 RS at invoice. I would never put 15k for a deposit. Down payment yes, deposit no.

My dealer does $1000 on all his orders. It is refundable if the price is outrageous.

Aye! Reminds me of when i went to look at Z28s in the early 90s( I think it was). went into dealership to check some out,saw a beauty, so I sat down with salesman and ended up making deal. I really had no intention of purchasing one at that moment, but I did. So salesman says how much you gonna put down on it .I said too tell you the truth i never brought my cheque book with me,but I have $100 on me ,take this and ill be back tomorrow and ill give you more. He started himming and hawing saying I need more etc.So I said to him, what part didnt you understand? I said I will be back first thing in the morning to give you more money. He kept yakking on about how he needed more etc.I then told him, technically I just have to give you $1.00 to make the deal. Again he started blah, blah blah, so i grabbed the contract we just signed and ripped it up into 100 pcs and tossed it in the air,and told him to go F@#K himself! and left.He kept phoning me every day for a week to come back! Never did!
Like I have stated before, my word is as good as gold. I was totally offended by him and that was it for that dealership!!
