(Ask Al) SS 1LE Ring Lap Time?

Part 1:
Very simple. We saw the 6th gen SS 1LE testing alot out at the ring along side of the ZL1. What was the best recorded lap the GM test team got from the SS 1LE? We had hero lap times run from the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE but never got any time for the SS 1LE. Even if we don't have an official lap time I'm sure Al is aware of the approximate times the SS 1LE was running.

Part 2:
What PTM settings and tire pressures were used to achieve the best results? I know the Manual says to target 37 PSI hot, but as an AutoXer I have learned at least at low speed situations the Goodyears much prefer 30-31 PSI hot. Was the HP Supplement Track Alignment used?

They supposedly have a rule about posting times if they don't have a video. I would love to see a lap time for the SS 1LE though. More times the better. Video is always better, but I would love to see how it compares to the 5th gen lineup that we have times for.

I get that, but its not breaking any rules to give us an approximate range.

High or Low 7:30's range? Maybe 7:40's?

Yes Al, please give us the Ring time even if it is unofficial etc. BTW a fantastic job on the 1LE - a huge thank you to you and your team for making it a reality! Keep'em coming!

Would be cool to know. Either way I'm glad they kept the SS 1LE this generation, otherwise I wouldn't have bought a Camaro. Great job with the package.

I wonder if this gets enough traction and gets sent to Al if we can make it a 2 part question. Approx Ring Times and any Setup info he can tell us. Did they run the exact track spec alignment and tire pressures mentioned in the Performance Supplement or did they max out the Camber adjustments and run lower pressures?

+1 for 1LE ring times! As others above have said it's an exceptional package.

Very interested to hear as well! Great follow up question regarding the alignment setup and tire pressures.

It still might be.

The reason they don't release times without a video is for validity. Otherwise they're just spitting out a number that, as far as anyone knows, they could be 100% completely making up -and they get enough doubters as it is.

My guess is that if Al were to give an approximate range, it would be wide enough that it would be pretty much meaningless anyway and thereby defeating the purpose of providing an answer in the first place. Or at least ... thats what I would probably do if I were in his shoes.

But I could be wrong as I don't know all the details on policies like this.

Then it wouldn't hurt to Ask Al O. worst case is he says he can't tell but he can maybe elaborate on the Setups they found most successful.
