Track day insrance
Can anyone recommend any affordable, but reliable insurance companies? The company partnered with the track I would be using wanted over $500 for the one day event. Totally new to this, but that seemed very steep.

I have not looked in to it lately but can you use it through your insurance by calling it driver improvement course?

Hagerty and Lockton are both very popular. Haven't heard people complaining about the claims process when it's been needed.

I was quoted 500 too, I want to take mine to the track to give it a try. But it’s looking to cost 1k to do this, I was looking to get an instructor to teach me some of the finer points.

I just ran a quote with hagerty for the track njmp. Put the value of my car at 32,500 and got quoted for 362. I’m sure if my car was newer/valued higher it would have been between 4-500 bucks

When I got a quote last year before the values of our cars spiked it was $250 with my car valued at 27k I think.

What kind of event are you running?
For a well-organized open lapping day or HPDE, I generally don't think there is much need for it. For a more competitive event then yes, it's a good idea to get it because people are in it to win it and will push their limits. If you haven't done any motorsport before, try Autocross first so you get a feel in a safer and more slow-paced environment.

But getting back to the pro/cons for track insurance... Our cars are fast. If you drive sensible you probably don't have to worry about yourself but anytime you're passing cars at high rates of speed like we are things can happen. Some of these guys really drive like heros. Pay the couple hundred in insurance IMO. It's not worth the chance of totalling your $25k-70k ride and still paying for it monthly. Just my 2 cents. |

It's funny, i think most of the cars i see spin out, or are driven way beyond their abilities, probably don't have insurance. I would add... shop between hagerty and lockton. hagerty was initially cheaper for me, but now i'm seeing hagerty being more expensive then lockton on some tracks. |

Hagerty charged me about $330.00 for Sonoma a month, or two ago. White, brand new Miata got totalled that day. Don't know if the poor owner had insurance that day. Hope he did.
