I need a little advice
As the title states I'm after some advice.
I'm from the UK and have previously owned a 2012 SS & a 2015 challenger Hellcat which I sold last year. I have the opportunity to buy a 2015 ZL1 with 42000 miles or a 2016 SS with 10000 miles. is there much difference between them performance wise? what do you guys prefer? |

SS all day
The handling on the 6th is worth it over the hp of the 5th gen zl1 imo |

Same. You won't necessarily get to enjoy the extra power of the ZL1 every time you drive the car, but you will get to enjoy all the other stuff that improved from the 5th gen to the 6th, and that's actually a pretty long list of things.

I would vote for the 6th gen as well and second the sentiments other have shared about you enjoying the improvements more while foregoing the additional HP.

I went through the same conundrum when I bought mine recently. I chose the 6th gen Obviously the ZL1 performs better but I personally believe the LT1 is a better platform than the LSA. The transmissions are better, the car looks better and its much more comfortable.
All of these are my opinions but I test drove both, researched both and did a pro/con list for both. |

6th gen all the way, just as everyone says. You can always add more power to that SS (see my signature), but you will never be able to retrofit the supreme handling or the new tech into the 5th gen.

Yeah, the 2016 SS for sure. And I am not just saying that because I have a 2017 SS.
With bolt-on mods (intake, headers, E85, etc.) on the 6th gen Camaro, you can be close the the wheel horse power level of the 5th gen ZL1. And it will have better handling and more up to date tech. |

I would go with the 2016 SS too but if you like the 5th gen ZL1 then get it. I have had a 2010 2SS that was modded and when the 2016 2SS I saw and bought was hands down a better platform and ran better too it was time to trade in the 2010. I do miss the old LS3 in the 2010 but I quickly forget about it when driving the 2017 ZL1. The LSA 6.2 supercharged engine in the 5th gen was a strong running engine but the weight of the car was a disadvantage unlike the lighter weight of the 6 gen SS or ZL1. It just depends on your personal taste of which one you like better but in my opinion either one would be a good choice. Good luck.
