Trade for a C8

Was at a dealer for service and saw a used C8 on the floor. A salesperson asked me if I liked the car. Half jokingly I said, ya, I’ll trade my ZL1 for it. Was told they’d give me 70 for my car, and that they had a buyer for it, and wanted to do the trade right away. I’m thinking, yeah right, the delta’s going to be like 15-20…so I was expecting 30-35. Their first shot was almost 80! I played along for a while, and in the end I figured out it would have taken my car and 50. Are used C8s really trading hands for that much? After walking away I started thinking about what it would have taken for me to pull the trigger. What do folks here think about trading a ZL1 for a C8?

So they were giving 70k for your ZL1? And then you srill needed to pay 50K on top? So 120k for a C8?

Walking away? I would’ve ran away. If you would’ve taken that deal they would’ve used their “hidden video” as a tutorial for every salesperson at that location.

No way I'd trade a ZL1 for a C8, personally. I just don't like them enough to give up an amazing Camaro...

C8 is ugly as F. No way in hell I would trade a ZL1 for that trash.

Now if it was trading a ZL1 for a C7 ZR1, I'd consider it.

Until the C8 Z06 is out, the ZL1 (1LE) is the best Chevy deal and setup for me..

C8 rear looks quite bad (too boxy, a wider Z06 might improve this)
C8 interior is awkward (buttons & steering-wheel..)
C8 base V8 is not a proper mid-engine sports-car engine (Z06 will fix this)
C8 prices are completely over-heated.. (you'll not get the ADM back once Z06 comes, C8 production increased and general car market stabilises..)

A lot of nonsense posted in this thread. Love the hate from the non-C8 owners that have never driven or owned a C8. Having owned both, I have a different opinion.

C8 I’m sure is great….at 60-70k NEW. Beyond that, hell no.

Had a C8 on order and cancelled it to buy the ZL1. C8’s are all around here and I have yet to see another ZL1 within 100 miles of where I live. Owned 4 Corvettes prior and the C8 looks gay to me. Different strokes for different folks.
Not a C8 hater, I simply do not like the looks.

Concur with this 100%. And I’d never buy a base model of any generation of Vette. I’ll revisit the C8 when I can get a Z06 or ZR1.

Yup, GM sure went for the all-out Ferrari look... it isn't bad per se, but does nothing for me personally, and I've now seen quite a few inside and outside, in many different color and option combinations.

I haven't seen a single ZL1 yet here either, despite the somewhat surprising number of LT and some SS Camaros.

I read recently that used C8s are typically selling for $26k or so above sticker. $50k is ridiculous.
