My question is about average costs and potential cons of owning this as a 3 season DD.

A few things, my experience with performance vehicles ends with a C5 Corvette. My IROC has never seen over 220HP.

I wont be driving every day, maybe 3-4 days a week for less than 100 miles.

I'd like to be able to go cross country (what kind of MPG are yall seeing on a good day?)

What are the insurance costs like?

Any other cons you can think of? I've got about 7 hours to make my final decision.

Just want an honest view of this car as it is much more (in many ways) than the 2SS I had originally set my mind to.

Thanks in advance!
In my opinion, once you swap out the Supercar3's for a tire that isn't quite so dicey in the rain, the ZL1 is just as easy to dd as a 2SS. The real world mileage won't even be appreciably different.
There are lots of compromises when using either as a dd, but lots of guys have learned to live with them.

I say get the ZL1 but since you decided on an SS then go for it and don’t have any regrets!

They had 0 issues with the car.

The first thing you should do is swap out the stock tires as they are horrible in the rain and cold as they are, hands down, the best track tire that can still be driven on the street.

Swap them out for something suitable for your region but Pilot Sport 4S are the go to street tire but I've had no issues with the Pirelli P Zero tires and am on my 2nd set.
That's encouraging to hear for those of us with 2017 and 2018 ZL1s, considering the oil pump issue. As I stated in another post, of the four 2017/18 ZL1s I came across in the Camaro Nationals, 1 had an oil pump sending unit go bad and the other three had 7-33k miles without issues.

This car drives like absolute dog shit with the heavy stock 20''s. Upon switching to some 19" Apex ARC-8's and running Michelin PS4's the ride got WAY better over bumps.

The only disadvantage this car has in stock form is that it is already really low to the road, so speed bumps, curb stoppers, even going up driveway entrances and whatnot will be an issue to you. Outside of that, these get around town and on the freeway excellent.

As per LETHAL, it will be almost impossible to get a 2024 ZL1 (so congrats)...and GM will not make any 2024 ZLE's, so 2023 was the last hurrah for Extreme Track Pack option.

Holy shit, I didn't know this. sad, this car is too good to not be on the track. The suspension is so nice. IMHO 2023 is the year the camaro died.

Just watched that video, the flat black car is fugly Should have made it green.

I DD'ed my old ZL1 for a year and a half, loved it. Always rewarding after a long day at the office to hop in that thing and have some fun on the way home.
