2019/2020 SS/SS1LE Bumper panel gaps

Greetings,

I recently had my 2019 front fascia changed to 2020 model year.

however I am seeing some wide gaps below my headlights, the body shop says the part and bumper has been installed with maximum accuracy and won't be able to do much about it as the factory fitment itself would be as good as their install, can you guys check on your 2019/2020 car and let me know if this much gap is normal and acceptable?....Thanks.

My rear bumper on my 2020 SS 1LE just started popping out at the top edges by each tail light and I didn't hit anything and there's not a mark on it like someone might have hit me.

I've had my 2020 for 2 weeks now and it's starting to do that too, but just on one side. The dealer promised that the car would have the clear taillamps and it came with the standard red. When they come in I'll have them fix it all at once.

On my 2019, the bumper fits completely under the headlight and there's no gap at all.

Mine does not do anything like that. As far back as you can see, the bumper goes.

This is a well-documented complaint. The factory clips/guides aren't strong enough to maintain proper fitment between the bumper cover and rear quarter panel, especially when temperatures rise and the bumper cover thermally expands. I corrected this issue on my 2018 SS using zip ties.

At least now I can bring it in knowing others do it. Thanks, I'm a service advisor and have been for 22 years, so I really try not to be a pita. I knew something was up.

Sham001:

The fitment of your bumper cover panel is definitely poor. For reference, attached are two photographs of my bumper cover panel fitment at the passenger side headlight.

Body shop will say that, if you’ve already paid them they might not fix it.

Seems like they slapped it on and eyeballed it, then again it is pretty hard and time consuming to get back to OEM lines

If you want it properly aligned you might have to take it to a Chevy dealership body shop. I wouldn't trust some third-party low-rate place to do it correctly, they don't care about factory guidelines. Probably broke a clip or two in the process, hence why it looks like that.
