Passenger seat removal now tire spin?
Hey all. 2010 Camaro SS A6 (most major bolt-ons with stock gears and stock converter and no cam) Last week I decided to remove the passenger seat to save nearly 60lbs. Today at the track (everything near identical to last outing a couple weeks ago) I spun a little on the launch. Never did this before. My 60' was a little slower and E.T was a tenth slower. Do you think that removing the passenger seat weight caused me to spin because of less weight near the rear wheels???

It don’t come easy.

Would seem to be an obvious conclusion but, could be other factors.

I seriously doubt it.

I once made a pass with 1/2 tank and no spin, then spun with 1/4 tank. I'm gonna blame the fuel level.

Maroon, I think you really worry a little too much about little things. I usually see most of your posts over the past year and you tend to let little things get to ya. You usually are pretty consistent with your times that you do run, except for a while back when the weather was insanely hot. You're doing fine for the few mods that you have.
Here though, and this is just an opinion, but I think you should put your passenger seat back in, and look more at rotational weight reduction like wheels, brakes, driveshaft, before you start gutting that nice car. Also, you really could use a converter if not a cam as well, if you have the means. Good luck, and it was only a .1 difference. They may not have prepped the track as good, someone may have dripped water on the track from the water box, theres just all kinds of questions you could ask, but I doubt that having your passenger seat out is the reason.

Thanks guys for bringing me down to reality. I have a very analytical type personality and I like to ask a lot of questions when I can't figure things out. I now understand that I shouldn't sweat the little things. There's too many factors involved. You guys are great though. All the questions I've asked over the last year could've been ignored, but I still got answers from you.

You’re a good sport. Find a mentor to learn from and ask these questions in private. We all learned things in different ways. If you were a bit more knowledgeable about traction and weight and hp, this entertaining tidbit would have never even been on your radar.
In other words....there’s a shit ton of other stuff to worry about before ya get to removing the passengers seats and taking a dump before racin’ to lighten’ the load and control wheel spin. |

Well.... maybe. 60 lbs is after all 60 lbs.
If you on a stock (hard) tire, you are going what, 12.8's on a 1.9 60? (edit) I see you posted you have 18" 555Rs. Those tires like a good strong burnout for the first pass or they don't work. I went a best of 1.85 on those and then I could not hook my combo anymore. I went 12.37 on those in 20's, and 11.85 1.59 with NT05Rs and more mods.
