Angry How much did you pay for your custom plates?

NYS is charging me $206.50 for 2 years.
2 yr reg $61.50
2 yr user tax $20.00 (BS)
2 yr special plate $ 125.00

This state sucks

Really? I got vanity plates when I had my Corvette, I don't remember it costing $125 for two years. =/

Though I was more pissed off about having to pay sales tax on a privately bought used car then I was about registration/plate fees.

Wow, that's not terrible. I just bought my 2-year stickers and AZ charged me $818 and I don't even have personalized/vanity plates, just the regular run-of-the-mill plates.

My parents live in Colorado and they say that Colorado prices are pretty close to Arizona's prices. So, if you only paid $206.50 you got a deal.

Edit: To personalize the plates in Arizona it's an additonal $25 per year.

Did you have to buy 2 tags ? I had to pay for temp tag first $3 ... Then I had to pay for normal metal tag $400 (included all the new registration tax) ... Then after I recieved my metal tag I was able to order my personal tag $85. In Florida you can't order a personal tag from the dealer just a plain or special tag (sports shuttle or whatever) ... It takes up to 90 days to get a personal tag, and your first metal tag has to be registered and on the car within 30 days ... So it cost me $488 to get a personal tag ... LOL....

I would just have to to AZ to kiss my a$$ and find me another place to live. Is there something special about AZ that allows them to collect such outrageous prices for the tags?

Maryland charges just $25 a year. It's not a bad deal.

I paid $40 to order them on-line. I picked them up at DMV for no more costs. But every year it will cost me an additional $30+ extra on top of my registration fee.

My license plates are $8 bucks.

The registration stickers are based on the value of your vehicle.... My Sierra with a 47k sticker = registration that costs $501.

Ya, my plates weren't that expensive ($125 just for the vanity part) and I'm in NY. Did you get something like "double special" with a hockey team/nascar driver/scenic- aka Niagara Falls in addition to your personalized lettering?

$75.00 to order them, $21.00 to transfer them to my Camaro registration. Not bad so far, the bad news is that my reg expires this May and it's a two year renewal so I figure thats going to be $200.00 to $250.00 vs $61.00 for a standard plate 2 year plate. OUCH!
