Saying Good bye to my Z/28
I'm trading my dream car (2015 Z/28) tomorrow for a ridicules $36K. Why? Because I'm getting the tax break on a 2019 GT350 (that is selling for below invoice). I have mixed emotions about it. But the truth is I don't drive it anymore, because I have gotten so used to the creature comforts on my new raptor, it was getting dangerous to drive the Z/28. I would forget that I didn't have lane change warning and change lanes without looking. In addition, with only straight roads and driving it on a highway at night to work and back it is a waste of a beautiful car. Yes, I thought of just keeping it (since it is paid for), but I realized that I'm just storing it for the next guy. The new GT350 has the lane change / creature comforts to keep me out of trouble. So thanks for all the help and advice. This is truly a great user forum, with some awesome people.

Changing lanes without looking, but depending on silicon?
Surely you jest.

So I'm back from the dealer. It was a three hour drive each way, so I had time to say good bye and hello. It defiantly was a gut twister to say goodbye. I managed to do my 100 mile break in period on the way home, but there is a 1000 mile break in before you can performance drive it. 300 down and 700 to go before the fun begins. So for now all I can compare is the day to day highway commute. 1st I couldn't even get the GT350 in reverse. They have a lock to prevent it going into reverse. So you have to depress it and then it will go into gear. Felt like a dumb ass for that one. Next I obviously didn't gun it, but one of their service people picked up the Z/28 to inspect it and he mentioned how much more torque it had over the GT350's he has driven. Now my wife was with me and hated the Z/28 because it rode hard and you couldn't hear each other talk in the car unless you shouted at each other. I can tell you the GT350 felt like a normal car. With normal conversations and lane change indicators, heated and cooled seats, back up camera and a much better interior and visibility. All felt great, but not special like the Z/28. Again I have only babied it, but it felt like a mustang. I didn't dare open it up or turn off the baffles so it would sound loud (didn't want to freak out the wife). So I would say it was nothing special so far. However, it does match up to all the research and reviews about the 2019 GT350. Coming from a Cadillac CTS-V Sport I wanted to get away from all the damping and numbing comfort. And the Z/28 did exactly what I wanted it to do. One last thing. A semi truck blew a tire a few car lengths a head of me and the rubber went everywhere. The GT350 easily navigated the debris at high speed while another car almost lost it. Oh yes this was also in a downpour. The steering did feel a little less numb, but this was mostly straight highway. Have to wait until I find me some twisty before I can really comment about it. Lastly, there were a lot of issues with the early GT350's, but I believe they have all been fixed with the 2019. As of now the GT350 and The GT350R have much more in common that they ever had before. If you want I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. Again thanks for all your past help.

Thanks for the info ! I love the color of your new GT350, rims are also great looking ! Keep in touch, let us know how it goes after the initial break-in. Take care.
PS. Is that a wickerbill I see on the GT350 spoiler or is that an optical illusion ? It looks like your Z/28 also had the wickerbill installed.

Yes to both. The 2019 GT350 has an optional handling package that this came with. It is now almost the same a the GT350R. Major differences are the rear wing, front spliter, wheels, and back seat delete. At least that is what I have gleaned from my research.

I wont be tracking the GT350 so crashing on a track won't be the issue. Here are some new photos of it and my raptor. FYI- I finally turned off the baffles and WOW! it was a totally different car! It maybe just a gimmick but it made me smile. I believe that the Motor Trend review was spot on: https://youtu.be/vtdtGgf1BF0

This one wasn't tracked either. Just smoked a deer on the highway.
