Spare wheel.

We all know there is no spare, but has anyone found a rim that would do as a spare?
Nothing goes in my boot so there's room for one, I don't fancy being stuck miles from anywhere with a shredded tyre and just a tube of that gunk.

For that to work on with the SS brakes you will need a spacer.

You can try a search on E-Bay.
Someone used to sell a kit including the jack, lug wrench, etc.

Got me a kit from performancespare.com - comprises 135mm cross-section spare tyre & rim, spacer to clear the caliper, lug wrench & jack. Sits very neatly & flush, under the carpet in the boot. Google/Youtube for videos and info etc

Don't suppose you know what size spacer you would need for this?

Spare, GM OEM to fit an SS

My spacer was part of the kit; I could send you a photo but you'd need p.c.d. stud specifications, lug nuts etc etc to get one fabbed up - cheaper in the long run to prob just bite the bullet and get the kit. It ran me the thick end of £400 (yep, I know) but I didn't want to be stuck in middle of nowhere as I was last year for a day & a half cos' the 'kin useless company car Beemer 320 had no spare, just a tin of snot and a glorified bike pump.

Yep that's my fear too, if I shred a tyre no amount of foam going to help. I have a the OEM spare, but was lied to on ebay, it doesn't quite fit over the SS brakes.

So like in your kit I'm hoping if I can add a spacer just to clear them. Maybe just a 5mm spacer might do it, I'm going to test the sizing with some washers next time the wheels are off see if I can gauge it.

It has crossed my mind just to call it a day, sell what I have and order a kit.

Her you go guys; there's a vid of install too somehere on their website/youtube. I was told by Randall (owner of company) that if you get a rear puncture, best to swap a front to rear & use the kit on front end of car only. Reason for this is very slight ride height difference of about 20mm and possibility of damaging lsd. Never had to use mine (hope I never have to) but it goes with me on long trips and holidays for peace of mind.

I wouldn't recommend spacing out stuff with washers unless you get longer studs - the spacer in the kit must be at least 70mm to clear the caliper....

Not a bad price, no doubt shipping and customs will take their toll on the total.

No Gordo, that included shipping (arranged it myself thru DHL) this was two years ago mind, so exchange rates now sadly different. Ask 'em for a quote...
