Hi Greenchevy,

Welcome and congrats!

Does your car have the RS package with included the HID lights? If so they are flat beamed so they don't need to be angled or aligned. However some IVA testers can be funny because the lights are not EU marked.

I had to use ShipMyCar in Milton Keynes to get my car through the IVA. They do the best modifications in my opinion because they keep the red cluster lights on the rear by using super bright amber LED's for the indicators.

They also convert one reverse light into a fog light, and put extra bulbs on the outer clusters so you've got red tail lights in all four rear clusters.

Where are you in the UK?

Pete

Hello Greenchevy, welcome to C5UK - if it's green, lets see some pics (you may be the first green Camaro in the clan....)
Cheers,
Ed

Hi Pete
Thanks for reply,
Is lT1, there is no RS package on it.
I heard that there should be 4 screws to adjust lights?
I'm from Manchester.

Thanks Ed
I will send some pictures later.

Thanks
Pav

Hi green,

What indicators did they mention failure? We need orange rear and front flashing and also side indicators. These can be put on the wings by the Camaro badge or as Pete says ship my car do a good just and stick them in the wing mirrors.

Is this the green one for sale on aurotrader?

I'm not exactly sure on car wiring but that's what I thought they would do but don't know how. Someone here might or give google a search and see what comes up.

Sorry I can't help more

Nice looking Camaro Pav; for your lighting issues I'd seriously advise you don't go cutting and splicing, the electronics on these things are (like all modern motors) complex and sensitive. Get yerself booked into somewhere that specialises in IVA compliance, might cost you more in the short term but it'll be guaranteed work and you'll have some back-up. Good luck with it & enjoy the car. Ed.

Lights

Hi you should only need to m.o.t this car at a local test centre as it is already registered in Poland , Dvla require a mot certificate and a form filling in plus £55 fee .A local test centre may be more helpful .

Hi Greenchevy,

As Yellow1 rightly pointed out, the electronics on the lights are sensitive, they are not simply cut and splice.
IVA rules also state that the light modification can not add an additional electrical load onto any exisit circuits, so cut and splice is going to open up another can of worms.

Here are the modification that I had done on mine for it to pass pass the IVA for the Camaro:

1) Amber side idicators (usually in the fender/wing or in the mirrors). Most people tend to put them in the mirrors so that you dont have to drill the wings.
2) Brake light bulb deleted and changed to a 'tail light only', in the two rear outer clusters.
3) Addition of super bright LED amber turn signals in the two rear outer clusters. (Separate bulb to the tail light, drilling required to fit the LED's into the same cluster).
4) Conversion of the right side reverse light into a rear fog that only operates whilst the headlights are on. Fog light switch drilled into the driver side dashboard and switch must be illuminated.
5) Temporary disable of the front DRL's (re-enabled after the IVA test)
6) Headlights temporarily swapped for EU marked headlights (swapped back after the IVA test).

No lights had to be realligned or repointed, headlights are flat beamed.
None of the light housing had to be changed due to the use of super bright amber turn LED's.

You'll be looking at about £800-£900 for ShipMyCar to do this modification work for you. If you insist on doing it yourself, you'll need to fit something like an ICOS Technology control unit where all of you wiring feeds into.

The ICOS technology unit, talks to the ECU of the car via CANBUS puts the right electronic signals in the right places.
http://www.customtronix.com/shop/bli...red-usa-to-eu/

With electronics, if it goes wrong it normally goes very wrong.
Paying an reputable company to do this work is good insurance to make sure it's done correctly without damaging your ECU.

If you're car has been imported from outside of the EU it will need to go through an IVA test.
If the car is from Europe, then you should be able to get a Certificate of Conformity and bypass the IVA altogether.

Great colour by the way, it's surely one of a kind over here :-)
Let me know if you need anymore info.

Pete

Is that just to disable to front side markers?

Are there any rules for having them on, being amber?

The front side markers don't light up (or at least they don't on mine), they are just reflectors as far as I know. It was the DRL's (Daytime Running Lights) on the front that I had to have disabled for the IVA test because they're not EU marked. Re-enabled after the IVA.
