Radar detector-hard wired in question.

I want to hard wire (direct wired) in my detector cable. I called the company but after 15 min on hold figured it would be faster here. I see on their web site a couple different cables. Does anyone know which would be the correct one as well as how do i hook it up? Thanks

You can do it two different ways, you could tap in the overhead console passenger air bag light. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=461297

Or, you could use the driver side fuse panel, by using post #3 to view the fuse that you can tap in. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455241

Pick the "Direct Wire" cord that matches your model number.

For mine I wired into the driver side fuse panel. Tucked the wire along front of headliner, down a pillar, then across bottom a pillar/dash into the fuse panel. I attached a fused tap like shown and plugged into one of the accessory fuse locations so it is switched to IGN. Gnd just goes under a bolt in the panel. Didn't want to mess with airbag lights or anything in the mirror.

It's just a light, nothing that could set off the air bag, so don't worry.

Not home or I'd check, but do our mirrors have power? I directly connected my Passport into the rear view mirror of my Z06. Haven't checked to see if the Camaro has the same capability. Since the Passport was mounted to the mirror, it was a very clean install.

I hard wired my radar detector behind the rear view mirror. I also mounted it to the rear view mirror with the Mirror Mount Radar Detector Bracket - Escort 9500ix, 8500x50, Solo S3, Redline. I purchased it through Amazon from radar mount.

Based on the years I spent in Passenger Safety at a tier 1 supplier, I'd be more concerned about the potential change in impedance causing the airbag to not go off. Aside from that are you connecting to IGN or BAT? Don't want to have to turn the detector on-off every time I get in and out of the car.
