Got quoted $300 for header installation from HP Motorsports. Good rate?

Hey everyone, I live in the Sugar Land/Houston area and need after market headers taken out and my stock headers put back in, HP Motorsports in Katy near I-10 said they could do it for $300. Is that a good rate? If not, can someone recommend another place that does a good job for a good price?

Give Ripley's Muffler and Brake on FM1960 a call. They installed my muffler deletes and resonated x-pipe for $260. Did a great job, and fast.

Might be worth your time to give KP Racing a call.

They'll probably be more expensive, but sometimes a little extra $$ is totally worth avoiding the potential hassles.

Not to say that HP wouldn't do a decent job, but there have (especially as of late) been some pretty serious horror stories about that place. They were a (seemingly) good shop for a while, but it seems that something has happened over the course of the past year or so, and the stories coming out of there make me want to avoid them.

KP is gonna be a bit farther of a drive (off BW8 just behind the horse track) and they'll probably be a bit more $$, but they are great folks to deal with.

Yep I would stay away from them for sure. The guy that your are talking to at HP is originally from ARD. They were one of the worst in Houston. They have since closed.

That wouldn't be a good idea, i gave them a call when i was going to put my headers on and they quoted me 1,500. I will never call them again.

Hey OP.

Honestly dude, just ask someone nicely from the Houston Camaro Car Club here.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104361

I'm sure someone would charge you next to nothing to put these things on, I wish I would've saved my damn money and put them on myself, because that's what a lot of people did.

That being said, I wouldn't pay over $250-$300 at most to have the headers put on.

Now as far as the tune goes, get yours from Dynosteve, his tune for headers + cai can't be beat. THOUSANDS of people on this site alone have had positive experiences with him sending him a tune through the mail.

Just to install headers? That's weird. They seemed pretty straight up with me.

Yes just to install them ! Not only that but when i first got my car the first ting i wanted to do was make it sound like a muscle car should sound which at times i had do idea of what a catback was or didn't know about this page or didn't know about anything about cars at all ! All i wanted was a loud car so i took it to them and charged me 980 just for an x pipe, magnaflows and hangers all made of stainless steel. Most of the catback was still stock pipe. This is the price of a full aftermarket catback ! Now that I know more about this i can't believe I paid that much and I can't believe they charge that much. I would never take my car to ripleys again
