No it hasn't. All the RSTs thus far have been appearance packages. To get all the performance upgrades with the Tahoe RST it required a separate package.

Like it's always been with Chevrolet, RS is mainly an appearance package and nothing more.

Been looking into leasing a midsize truck for a winter beater/daily driver/tow rig for the Camaro.

Drove the Canyon and the Tacoma.

Canyon's sticker price was $41,xxx. Not a bad car, but shared way too much with the Colorado. I understand their essentially the same truck, but I was disappointed in the quality of the interior and how much alike they were. Road noise and power was great. Sound system was great.

The Tacoma was $10,000 less and far more better equipped. I was hoping that the GMC would win me over, but it doesn't seem so.

That being said, does GM plan to have any refreshes coming for the Canyon or Colorado? And if so, will the Canyon's interior ever actually look like a $40,000+ interior?

Supposedly a refresh is scheduled for next year, but haven't seen anything yet.

I was in the same boat. In my case, was replacing a 2005 regular cab. Toyota V6 sucks. Wasn't crazy about the mini Sierra stying on Canyon so went Colorado. Personally, not looking for soft materials in a mid-size truck. But that's just me. I do agree that it suffers from typical GM build quality/design to some degree on interior. Agree on the Bose. Even with a few minor shortcomings, love the truck/platform so far. Full size was too much for me.

  • Body-color door handles and headlamp accents

Like Fen said, you can get a performance package along with the RST (the 'RST 6.2L Performance Edition') that swaps the 5.3 out for the 6.2 plus a few other things that effectively doubles the cost of the RST package.

Wait hold up. Tacoma 10 grand less and better equipped?? Call me sceptical. These trucks are similarly priced for the most part. I need to see an example.

Yeah the interior isn't great but not horrible either...it's time for a freshening up.

I've been looking for a new Tacoma, 4x4 extended cab, pretty much loaded and they are right at 40-42K, not close to the 31K mentioned above. I have a similar equipped '14 Tacoma I bought new and it was around 33.5k. Is the 31K Tacoma a discounted '18 they want off the lot?

you can get a canyon diesel all terrain for $36k at Laura. How is that not a steal? Somethings not adding up, I would look at market vale rather than msrp anyway

I don't know why but I thought the 6.2 came with the RST. I should have known better, it is GM after all.

Everyone does it, not just GM. The whole point of the press release is to gush about how wonderful all the new things are. They want you to remember the best parts. The trick is keeping an eye out for terms like 'available with', because that pretty much always means that you've got to pay extra to get it.

And I just noticed that the post of mine that you quoted had a mistake. I said 'Its just a cosmetic package like the Tahoe RST.' It should have been Colorado RST, not Tahoe. I've fixed it now.
