I've been wanting to make a 6th gen appreciation post, so thanks for the bump lol. Congrats on the longevity
I had a 5th gen SS 1LE for about 3 years and loved every single drive with that car. As the end of ICE Camaro approached I was "forced" to upgrade to a 6th gen. Finances just barely allowed me to get into a ZLE roughly 6 weeks ago. Every single time I get into the car I am absolutely blown away at the quality of the 6th gen platform. The chassis, interior, and creature comforts are all above and beyond what I would expect from a car at this price that has been in production for this long. It must have been so much more satisfying for those of you who got one in the first couple years of production. And lastly, the car is an absolute blast to drive. I'm a weirdo who loves ALL the feedback from my car, so the M6 ZLE is my dream car, even on the street. There is nothing casual about it, and it's perfect.

For me, I guess having cut my teeth on a pair of 3rd gens back in the day, the 6th gen sounds quiet as a church mouse in comparison. *😂

I’ve owned six V8 Camaros, and my current 2018 2SS Hot Wheels Anniversary Edition is my favorite since my first, my 88 IROC-Z. That says a lot to anyone that knows me. I loved my first Camaro, but the looks and performance of my current, make me thrilled to cruise in it!

The 6th Gen is really a great car. I love mine greatly we need more threads like these. One of my favorite things is how well it takes the curves and mine isn't even a 1LE.

I've now been an owner of a 2023 ZL1 for 5 days and I'm in love.
I have never been a Camaro guy or even a muscle car type person. And yet in thinking about what I wanted my next fun car to be, I realized that I really want to own a naturally-aspirated American V8 with a manual before they're all gone. After considering a handful of vehicles that fit those requirements and some soul searching I decided the ZL1 was the one for me. It just hits all the right notes. It's everything I want in a weekend cruiser and eventual track day car. Even at lower speeds putting around in residential areas, the car is engaging to drive thanks to that glorious V8 + supercharger note and fantastic shifter feel. I have all the creature comforts I want, the seats are insanely comfortable, and I have really come to appreciate the interior design and how well put together everything is. I'm genuinely surprised at the initial build quality of the car. I know it's a GM and a sports car and I anticipate future quirks and rattles, but this is by far the nicest interior I've ever been in that didn't have a German badge on it. In short, I love this car and I cannot wait to explore its limits (yeah right I likely won't get close to those limits without years of track time practice) |

I previously owned a 1981 Camaro Z28 that I promptly blew up the 350 in. I pulled that out and ended up building a fairly radical 358, high compression, big cam etc. and that car was a lot of fun.
I now own a 2022 1SS 1LE M6 and this car is light years better than the Z28! Everything from form, fit, and function, power and all aspects of handling better that old car by several orders of magnitude! I am a very happy camper with the 1LE and am slowly and carefully modding it part by part, just ordered HP tuners MPVI3 and will start the dive in to reading and tuning.

+1 on everything said on this page! Still get excited every time I start her up!
The car tolerates every hair brained bolt on I've added and just keeps impressing me. The only problem seems to be most of the driving populace seems to be ready for self driving cars that require no thought or attention... Slows the rest of us down. But I'm learning to expect less and less. Long live the Gen 6 and the exemplary abilities it provides. |
