yes they were a problem in the hot summer sun however they don't work like in the old days you press that little orange button built into the seat to release the seatbelt latch.

Very good input about the hot summer sun. I remember burning my fingers a few times too on that hot metal seat belt! OUCH!

The ignition switch is push button on the concept from what I remember. It has a start/stop button. I've seen it on a few of the new cars where you insert a key somewhere in the car and then push the "on" button. Strange...I'd rather have an electronic key in my pocket, get in the car, and just push the button. If the vehicle and the key seperate after a certain distance, the car should automatically turn off. Imagine this scenario...carjacking. "Sure, take the car...

" Then, when they get 25 feet down the road....the engine cuts off. That'd be freakin hilarious to see the look on the thieves faces!

Yeah, but you still gotta touch the hot thing to put it on and remove it even if the button isn't right on it. And god forbid you're wearing a tshirt or something that it manages to work it's way under once it's latched. OUCH! Sounds strange, but it's happened.

Nah, I say lose the retro seatbelts...

I'll deal w/ the heat and hot seatbelts. I don't like it, but the belts just look cool. It won't cause that big of a problem for me.

I like wearing my little tank tops and bikini tops in the summer. As big of a fan as I am of GM, I don't want the emblem scorched into my skin.

OOUCH!!! But if GM can come up with a way to keep the summer heat out while the car is turned off and sitting in the sun, then I'll take the seatbelts as is. :p

theres alot ofthings in this interior that arent going to be used. its just a concept. this is how they get ideas for things. it doesnt meen everythign is going to be used. probably wont have a suede headliner, or seatbelt (female end) in the seat. sterio probably wont be the same , and im sure all the lights will be gone one the doors and headliner. i DO however like the mirror how it is. it could just have a controller like the side mirrors have,to move it.

I just want a steering wheel that looks like that (guess it'll be a bit fatter because of airbag), those two big round dials in front of the driver and that lovely shifter. Other then that I'm pretty open for change.

Well I own a 1970 Cutlass with the exact same style GM seatbelts (I even own a belt for my pants that looks like that too) and I personally haven't had much of a problem with them in the heat. I think if they did go with seatbelt buckles that looked like the concept they could possibly do it with a finish that trapped and radiated less heat. I like the style, but having hot metal in the car is a bit of a problem.
