Canadian XM Radio Seasonal Plan

So my XM renewal came due on the 24th of this month. I got no notification of them billing my credit card for a renewal until it actually showed up on my statement, $54.11 for another 3 months. Now this is my fault as I had not set up an e-mail address on my account.

Anywho, no point in getting another 3 months of service since I will be driving the Camaro little or none between now and December 24th. So I called them to cancel my plan and explained that it was really frustrating that they didn't offer a better plan for the Camaro as it is only on the road 6 months of the year and that it was a pain in the A$$ going through this every year (cancelling and then reactivating in the spring). To which he replied, you could sign up for our "Seasonal Plan". Seasonal Plan I asked, why yes, he said, a full year of uninterrupted service for $91.00. WTF, do they just make this shit up as they go? I check their website for current plans being offered and there is nothing listed as a seasonal plan, the rates are $14.99/month or a 1 year subscription for $164.89.

Thought I would pass this along so that anyone that is in the same boat as me will have this information before cancelling their subscription and/or contacting XM Canada about their subscription plan. Be interesting to see if anyone else gets the run around when they ask for this plan.

Just prior to my trial period running out (about a month ago) the called and offered me $6 month. I declined, they wouldn't give me that rate for just 6 months a year.

I just renewed mine for the 2nd full year. $77 for the whole year uninterupted service. Just keep going up the line asking for a supervisor when you call. The 1st person wouldn't do anything for me on the price, the 2nd person, the "supervisor" gave me the promo renewal $77 price. (I'm in the US, don't know if Canada has different pricing)

You know that is just about enough for me to call them back and tell them to go F&%$ themselves. How the hell do they get away with this shit not to mention operate a business this way. Do they think that customers aren't going to talk? Are they not regulated by the CRTC? If they are, think I will file a complaint.

Hey Matt, they tried to renew mine automatically back in April.
When I told them I don't want it, they tried to sell it to me cheaper, then when I still refused they went even lower. That really ticked me off.
They were doing the XM and onstar renewal at the same time.
The guy asked me if there was any way he clould help me feel safe in my camaro without onstar?
I told him to sell me a helmet.

I got a call offering me a cheap rate if I signed up before my trial membership expired, when I declined she said that if I didn't let them know I was not renewing I would automatically be billed for another 3 months. I had Sirius in my previous car and never lost my signal unless I pulled into the garage, I lose the XM signal if I drive under a large tree. Why would I want to pay for that?

????? You were talking to the same rep. to renew XM and OnStar at the same time? Aren't they two seperate unrelated companies?

I waited until the last day to renew, after about 100 calls from XM begging me to renew. Everytime they called there was a special new "Promo" price the could offer. Eventually renewed for the year at $70.00. All I intend to do is transfer the subscription from my Camaro (when I park it) over to my other head unit and use it in the winter beater.

I really only listen to about 5 or 6 chanells total, so I question the wisdom really.

A little over a month since I bought my ride they already called for the last couple weeks offering another 3 months at $9.99. I declined the short offer, I do listen to it off the internet at work but rarely in my car.

Only listen to a few channels but it's how much you get use it really. They mentioned there's a promo code I got somewhere that offers $9.99 / month for a year.

Have to start seeing what better bargains are there, like the $70 / year! I'd go for that.

I actually got the same deal last year. I called to say I was not going to renew because I don't use the car during the winter. They told me about the seasonal plan right away indicating that the plan assumes you only will use it for six months a year even though it is always on. I took the deal, I love XM.

I got the $90 dollar deal as well when I called. She told me i could do the seasonal deal starting in the spring as it wasn't offered just yet. I told them I didn't want to pay royalty fees as well but, hey, Canadian law. Awsome. Apperantly the US and Canada are 2 different companies under one roof. Love the CRTC right now. I guess comercial radio pays the royalty fees. What ever happened to " hey man, can you please play my demo on your station"?
Long story short, I took it and will do the seasonal thing next year.

Thumbs down XM radio

Being old and set in my ways... I was not going to even listen to XM They sent me a folder showing some of the stations available, and I was interested.. I figured out where the XM was, and its running a demo ....
I bought car Sept 10th, and I validated and refreshed my code, and it still isn't on... SO I'm back to my 5 favorite FM stations They can take a flying leap Still love the car! and OnStar, and the phone....

Now, these morons phone me last night and offer me an $82/year "special" after I had already turned down a $72/year "special" offer a month ago.
