Is that before or after the $6k for yours?

So they came down $6k and were going to give you $6k for yours? That doesn’t sound to bad. Playing with the numbers they could stick to the MSRP and show they are giving you $12k for yours.

I sold my 2010 1SS on ebay for $14100. It had 87,000 miles on it.

At this point I’m leaning more towards keeping the car.

Right now in my area, dealers are offering 1SS's for ~ 34k.

Of course then they include this verbage in the ads:

Quote:
The Our Cost Price reflects all applicable manufacturer rebates and/or incentives (not all will qualify) and is based on retail purchase with additional dealer discounts including a $1,000 Imperial Trade Assistance Bonus for qualifying 2007 or newer trade. Our cost is not a selling price but reflect s our best effort to convey our actual cost after the application of all applicable rebates. Our RED TAG buy for specials are available exclusively through our phone and internet department. Price subject to change if manufacturer rebates change. Lease, business and fleet acquisitions may result in a different pricing and rebate structure. Price does not include tax, title, registration, and documentation fee or other applicable fees. Vehicle must be paid in full and take same day delivery from dealer stock. No wholesalers or dealers. Call or email our phone and internet team for the most current rebate information and Imperial discounts. Our internet price online is for our market area only. Price cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotions. Not responsible for typographical or pricing errors. May include vehicle demonstrators. Stock photos may be used and picture may not reflect actual vehicle. Transparency is our goal. Call (888) 806-2248 to find out what incentives you will qualify for and to receive your personalized buy for price. Price does not include tax, title, registration, documentation fee or other applicable fees. To receive advertised price, the vehicle must be paid in full and take same day delivery. No wholesalers or dealers.

If you know what you want and you know what your trade is worth, then what I would do is find competing dealers with similar vehicles.

I did this with a few cars I've bought where what I wanted wasn't all that unique anyhow and I just went back and forth between the two a couple times. In the end, the dealer that gave me what I wanted/needed for my trade won the business.

I did it all with a visit to each store to decide on the car and then it was all emails and phone calls from there. All I needed to do was tell them I'm looking at X car at Y dealership, they're giving me the same price but Z for the trade. Can you do any better?

You'll probably have much better luck in a couple weeks towards the end of the month.

Maybe I’ll consider your offer if no one gives me the amount I’m looking for! If I did accept your offer... what would you do to beloved Camaro might I ask?

Im in the car business. If it's in decent shape with an automatic and clean carfax, carmax will give you 9-10k easy (and few other dealerships will match them without merely giving you less discount on the new vehicle). If it's a stick but clean no accidents carmax will likely give you 8-9ish. If it's got an accident on record then unfortunately no one will want to try and retail it, and you'll get below auction value from everyone.

It has a clean history. Only thing wrong with the car on the exterior is that their is a dent in the roof from a soccer ball.

That's ok. Take it to carmax, and prepare to be surprised

The acv (you will never know this, this is a internal number, acv is actual cash value) will probably be higher so they are increasing the front end profit on your deal by 'stealing your trade'.
Bottom line they tried to hose you, that is their job. Your job is to try and hose them.
Shop around as advised....
