Hey Angie11 thanks for the post, I just broke mine today for the 4th time. it's really starting to pi$$ me off. the last time it was replaced under warrantee the dealer was charging GM $1500. there is no way I am going to pay that amount to fix it. so your post is going to come in very handy as I try to do this myself. figure might as well learn how to do it cause something tells me this isn't going to be the last time it happens.

Did your new 5th Bow have the upgraded ends like the pictures in this post?

I seem to be having trouble getting the revised part - the parts department had the old style in stock and said it was the only part number.

yes the ends are different but that extra length on the end has no value, adds no strength. Even in the revised part, the problem is, the flat part, before the 90 degree bend up to the pivot pin, bends. My 2nd replacement bent first cycle of the top. I had to flatten it and weld in a tube steel gusset to keep the flat, flat and also to strengthen the 90 degree bend so it cant flex either. I'm confident that what I did will eliminate any bending of this part.....but may just transfer the problem to the next weakest link.....time will tell.

Thanks for the prompt response. I figure best to start with the revised part.

Angie11 Question about decklid bumpstop measurement?

Angie11, Thanks for the great write up. I plan to keep my car forever so I expect I may have to do this one day. On your adjustment for rear deck lid bumpstops I was wondering what your measurement is? My car measures 1 and 3/16th inch. I cut a small piece of cardboard. I measured from the base then used my thumbnail to mark the top of bumpstop.
Thanks again for all the valuable info Andrew

Would that be why in the picture you can see all the Bows on my car?

I am going to be keeping my eye on this thread..

My cabin noise has become Insane .. Would love to Know what to adjust for that lol

But yeah... My 5th Bow was damaged when I bought the car.. I was too excited to even noticed that it shouldn't be like that lol.

Would love some pics for this as I will be doing the repair now my self thanks to you

Not sure what the distance was on mine but the shorter the better for sealing the weather strip and also putting less tension on the 5th bow

Yes the gap along the back is why the fabric is loose and also why you get so much noise in car
