Thank you StabilTrak

Today I was driving to work by taking Groat Road, as anyone from Edmonton that has ever driven on it knows, it has a lot of twists. Anyway at one point coming up to a straight stretch I hit a patch of black ice. The Camaro slides into a nearly 90 degree angle from what it was and then less than a second later shoots back to the proper direction. I couldn't believe what had just happened. This car is freaking incredible when it comes to correcting slides and stuff like that.

and THIS is a perfect example of why I tell people to leave Stabilitrak "ON" when driving.........the only reason it should be turned off is for track driving...........(or when buried in snow...)

Thank you for sharing - and pleased that you and your Camaro are safe!

We had a nasty ice storm here in DFW not too long ago and I hit an unexpected patch of ice in a curve about a week after the storm when the rest of the roads where dry. The back end slid out, and front lost traction, but it regained on its own very quickly. (on PZeros)

I can attest to Groat Road being VERY twisty. Lots of fun in the summer time...don't know if I would be a big fan of it in the winter. (Either up OR down!)

Glad to hear it turned out well for you. Aren't these cars amazing???

And yes...leave Stabilitrak on! I'm sure everyone would discover that even professional drivers would leave it on knowing how much safer it makes people.

I only wish the cars I had in the '70s and '80s were equipped with all these functions!

Stibiltrack will activate individual brakes to correct a slide, as well as decrease power to the drive wheels when traction is limited. Great system.

I was in a similar situation but had to maneuver to avoid being t-boned from both sides in a 4 way intersection with blind stop signs. It was a cooler night so it slid around pretty good but I was able to correct it and get going straight... likely assisted by stabilitrac
