What's Safe and What Isn't? Lucas Slick Mist?

OK so I have very little knowledge on what may or may not be harming my car when I wash it. I don't always use this Lucas Slick Mist, found here but I'm curious if anyone else uses it. I hear lots of products like this are bad for the clear coat in the long run but I'm unsure of how to know when something is going to be damaging to use too much

I never apply it when the car is dirty, only right after a long car wash. I should probably make sure the soaps I'm using are OK too just so I don't regret it later Are most products that say wash n wax all in one going to be OK? I don't have it with me but I use ICE or something like that from PepBoys

Also I can't seem to find a cheaper solution to keeping the exhaust tips clean on the inside... Particularly on the outer tips, since I have quad tips and it seems like the inner tips don't really get as dirty inside. I ended up buying some chrome cleaner since PepBoys had nothing for stainless steel and once I started using it I realized it was just degreaser and returned it.

Never used the Lucas Slick Mist stuff, but I'm sure it does the job it is supposed to to some point, how effective or safe it is, you probably won't find out here.

The ICE stuff you are talking about is Turtle Wax. It's crap.

The best soap you'll find OTC is Meguiars Gold Class IMO.

If you're not into the $75 a can wax stuff, I find Mcguires Gold Class paste to be one i keep going back to. Also like the Mcguires #26 Yellow Wax liquid. Great shine but has to be applied more often.

I use Blackfire Midnight Sun. Wax shouldn't really be about the shine factor, that's more of polishing.. The main purpose for wax is how well it protects and for how long.

Some other waxes you may want to look at are Pinnacle or Dodo juice. Typically anything you pick up from Walmart is going to be below par.

I'm under the impression that he said he also uses this "Ice" stuff from pepboys and is referring to the ICE wax from turtle wax.

My bad. Ignorance.

I was unaware that Turtle wax had a line called "Ice" that has all different products under it.

OP, for a wash look at SCG balanced wash or optimum car wash soap.

The thread kind of meanders through three or four topics. The title is about Lucas detailer, but then he goes on to ask about soaps and exhaust tips too.

Admittedly, it wasn't an easy post to follow but I've gotten pretty adept at speaking C5

Your better at it then me. Some posts do wander a bit and get off topic.

If a potato rolls down a zebra, is a purple telephone a thorough ambassador to shovel my doorbell?
