22s Hitting Lots While 21s Still Yet to be Delivered

How is it possible that 22s are hitting dealers lots while there are 21s that have yet to be delivered? I ordered/ GM accepted in February and the car has not been delivered yet. I just don't understand how 22s are being built and delivered and I am waiting on a model year old car.

Sorry for the rant, but this just doesn't seem right.

Agreed. I'm sure they have some twisted reason. Ease of logistics? Getting the 2022 ZL1's out there first and before 2021's? Dealer favours? Hang in there.

I'm just at the point where I ordered a 21 ZL1 but could just order a 22 ZL1 and possibly get it sooner or not far after and not have a 1 model year older car. Not sure if dealer volume has something to do with it.

I’d be baffled if 22MY Camaros were delivered when 21s are still waiting on parts. Totally doesn’t make sense but a lot of things nowadays don’t make sense

Its because they are now only producing camaros if they have all of the chips, where before they were building incomplete vehicles

probably some truth dylans but how does GM explain the parking lots full of built cars waiting for chips that have to be 2021my and 2022's are rolling off the line. one would think they would take chips and get the old inventory off to dealers.

something tells me the unions have a say in what's happening and are pushing manufacturers to sit on the built inventory and use chips to build new to keep the associates employed. at some point there will be a glut of 1-2year old cars that are hitting the market. or maybe those will all be destine for the hertz/avis rental car market.

So what, would I be better off walking on the 21 and ordering a 22 from Joe?

From what I understand they are using this two weeks of line down time to install chips in the 21s.

My car is built and at 4300 status so waiting for the train. It's just frustrating and puts me at a point of thinking of bailing on the 21 and just ordering and waiting for the 22.

do it! get a new color and model year especially if you can't drive the car in the coming months (winter).

You won't see a 22 til late winter or early spring, I think is optimistic, I have one (ZL1) on order now. If you have this car at 4300 I'm not sure you've got anything to gain by rolling over to a new order of a 22, maybe you change the color. Too frustrating, toop hard to know, patience isn't a virtue of mine.

My guess is why have 2 customers unhappy that they have to wait, when you could only have one? The '22 buyers will at least be complaining less. Some of you guys have been waiting so long already, what's more time waiting matter?

It's no skin off their nose either way. All the cars will be sold eventually. Good luck. Hope you all get your cars in a timely fashion.

Not necessarily true - people here have already taken delivery of '22 ZL1s. Not sure there's any real logic as to why, but they ARE being delivered.
