Advanced Wheel Locks
Just a recommendation. I purchased a used set of 1LE GM wheels and tires here a couple of weeks back and wanted to get a set of wheel locks for them. Pretty much all of the kinds of locks I could find any tire thief would be able to get them off in under 5 seconds.
And then I cam across Advanced Wheel Locks: https://advancedwheellocks.com/ Very interesting design that I think actually would work. And they are made in the USA which is nice. Maybe check them out. By the way, I have no affiliation with AWL. Just think they make a worth while product. |

Would love to see a shop try to get those off if the key is lost
Side note, I don't run wheel locks on any of my cars. When I worked at the tire shop I saw too many wheels destroyed by amateurs trying to steal them. Car is insured, if they really want them take them

Those look wild and yeah, you’d be SOL if you lost the key!
I’m not sure I’d trust it on the camaro though only because at 140lbs of torque, I wonder if they provide enough contact area for the key to not slip while tightening or loosening. |

Yeah, it doesn't specify a bulge cone seat for the Camaro set that comes up via their Shop function. Will be interesting to hear about them once someone else gives them a try...

Well, I put them on my car. The cone seat on the locks looks identical to the cone seat of the factory lug nuts.
I also had no problems putting the locks on using the key and torquing 140lb-ft. Have not had any problems using a DeWalt electric impact to remove them. I have take and re-installed my wheels at least twice since I put the locks on and had no problems re-torquing to 140lb-ft each time. But yeah, lose the key and you are screwed. The set does come with a sticker with a code for a replacement key that they advise to place next to the tire pressure plaquard on the drivers side door seal as well as a magnetic sticker they recommend to place somewhere in your garage or home. Just thought I would share. By the way, what catch can would you guys recommend? |
