2022 lt1 drag race

Hey guys . Tsking my camaro to a local test n tune this week for the first time. I have the ss size setup with Michelin ps4s. Any tips on how to get the best tine? These tires don’t seem to be the best at hooking up even with a stock car

Good Day there are guys in here that are way more experienced and can add some . Before my ZL1, I had a 22 1SS stock , about all you can do without a Drag Pak and may get a little wheel hop , is drop tire pressure to 18 psi , track mode , turn off TC an ST , do a hase burn out in the water (some don't), then a dry launch.
Pull up pre stage / stage ,(I didn't use launch control keep it simple til you are comfortable) I didn't stall the converter up , I left on idle . With the electronic throttle ,it's different than the old cable throttle I'm use to , so I found myself having to leave on the 2 nd yellow and adjust if your concerned about a good RT . About all I can suggest . Your first number of passes to get into the groove maybe in the mid 12s @ 110 to 115 mph , the car is capable of 12.17s @ 115 . Go have fun.

Normal mode would be better as the suspension is softer and will allow better weight transfer.

And I might add 25psi fully heated. I would also suggest trying to get out of the hole by the seat of your pants meaning as quick as possible with out spinning and when you feel the bite, get it to the floor asap. I doubt you will see a 60 ft in the 1.8s like another member posted. you may have to settle for 1.9 to 2.0 60 ft times with the Michelin 4s and totally forget reaction time at this point. Oh yeah, just remembered, take 30 minutes and remove the front sway bar

Base LT1s do not have adjustable mag ride shocks which is required for ride difference in your mode settings.

The best times on street tires? IMO waste of time unless its just to gauge mph.
While you're there though you can get a hang of the track if it's your first time? Practice shallow staging. That can knock off a tick in your 60' which will grow in the back end.
After this trip, get some drag radials. Then you can really see what the car can do.
I'm sure others will disagree about the tire thing, but to me showing up with street tires would be just to goof off. Just my .02. Have fun if it's your first time and dont wreck dude!

My best 60' on PS4S tires is 1.85 and I doubt a much better time could be achieved on those, they're street tires after all (and the best ones, all things considered).

However, I disagree with the view that going down the drag strip on street tires is a waste of time. You can have a ton of fun, enjoy the speed and the atmosphere, plus gather useful data in the process.

JTS gave excellent advice above. Air the tires down and don't go crazy with the burnout, these aren't drag radials, a big John Force burnout hurts them more than it helps. Just do 2-3 seconds at mid rpms to clean off the gunk.

BTW "shallow staging" means you roll up to the lights very, very slowly and immediately stop when the 2nd yellow gets lit. This gives you a tiny bit of extra time/space for acceleration without the clock running.

I had the PS4S on my stock SS wheels. For the dragstrip, I lowered the 275 rears to about 26 psi and did a DRY burnout. I had T/C off by the single-tap method. My better short times in my A8 SS on these tires were 1.81~1.82, so they are not too bad for just plain street tires. Go have some fun.

Not easy to get low 1.8 60ft times with just a Michelin PS4S tire, If the OP imo hits some 1.9 60ft times he will be doing well.

2019 SS bone stock I went 12.00 at 115.96 at Memphis.
26 psi in the goodyears, 1,000 rpm and matted the gas. Car dead hooked.
It was about 50* and the DA was around 0.
