Removing Dash From 2010 Camaro Question?

Has anyone on the forum removed the entire dash from a 2010 or 2011 SS Camaro? I have googled this subject & had no help.

I am designing a gauge panel that will be located in the same location that the OEM center HVAC vent above the radio is located.

On the 2010 & 2011 Camaro, the entire dash must be removed to gain access to the back side for removal of the vent.

Any & all information will be greatly appreciated.

Not easy and the panel is subject to cracking on the '10 Camaro. How about a plan B ?

When you say NOT EASY, does that mean that you actually have removed the dash? Also, when you say the panel is subject to cracking, does that mean that you have actually removed one? If it would crack, it would not matter. It will be replaced with a panel CNC machined from 6061 T6 aluminum alloy.

Also, there will be no plan B in this case. I will get it done no matter how long it takes or how hard it is. I can work on the car 24-7, 7 days a week if need be! Failure is not an option!
Again, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ryan,

I already knew that the 2012 & newer cars did not have this problem of the dash removal for the center vent. You must have missed that in my post.

It was not hard, had it out to put in HUD. Just a lot of bolts under dash and you'll need a hand getting out of car. Time consuming.

That my friend, is what this forum is all about. After reading the dash removal instructions, I now know that I can remove the dash myself, to gain access to the back side of the center HVAC vent & install the custom billet gauge panel that I am designing for the 201 & 2011 Camaro!

I can now finish the design work on the panel regarding the chassis mounting points as well as all the other physical dimensions for a perfect fit in the dash.

What I forgot to mention is that I am building a 2010 SS Camaro to compete in auto-cross events & need the gauge panel at eye level in the dash for obvious reasons when running at high speeds.

THANK YOU SO MUCH again for your help with the dash removal instructions.

Apparently you didn't search this site. There's been tons of threads about removing the entire dash. The dash has to be removed for the HUD upgrade, heater core replacement, or to upgrade to the 2012+ style dash. All these have been discussed many times over on this site. If you have any questions, get hold of Ofer at Gen5DIY. He can take one out in his sleep.
You do realize that GM already makes a gauge panel that fits in the center AC vent, don't you? Its PN 22950679. It was developed for the COPO Camaro.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know the dimension differences between the 10-11 and the 12-15 dash. I’m thinking of taking the whole dash out of my 2010 and replacing it with a 2012 dash so I can use the ZL1 suede dash panel. Just don’t know if it would like up different.

Not to be an ASS...but don't you still have to look down a little with the gauges mounted where the HVAC vent was. Mounted my important gauges in the pillar where they're always in plain sight & still get to enjoy my heater in the winter.

Should be a direct swap with no big issues and I agree upgrading it to the ZL1 Dash will definitely look nicer.. I'm planning on doing the red insert that the 2015 Commemorative Edition had... but I won't have to take the whole dash out to do it

I put a 13 zl1 dash in my ‘11 ss no problems with fitment. Got a gen 5 diy harness for the hud. Just remember to use ur original gauge cluster. As far as electrical the airbag in the passenger side of the dash has a different style plug but the same 4 colored wires that’s in ur car, so u have to swap plugs.
