Dipstick accuracy
This is my 3rd oil change, dipstick is always pretty low after 10qt. Like just inyo the cross hatching.
I see other threads on this but no general consensus on where it should land. I don’t want to put over. 10qt. But man, its low |

I've only done one oil change at 500 miles, but I put in exactly 10 quarts. Checked it the next morning when it was stone cold and it was exactly at the full mark. I think maybe people are not allowing sufficient time for all the oil to drain back to the pan.

I had the same issue when first purchasing my car. Needless to say I looked across this website and others had posted that their dip stick oil level read full with 10 Quarts and others that it would be full half way up the dipstick. I didn't want to take the chance off too much oil, so the photo shows what it looked like sitting overnight, changed it the next morning and after adding 10 quarts mine read the same on the dipstick as in the photo. So almost half way up the dipstick is full for my car.

After changing the oil and filter and putting 10 quarts in, mark your dipstick.

Dipstick is defective, the stop on The dipstick moved, see if it
Moves (up or down) on the metal part, that would give u an inaccurate Reading. |

My car changes over time after an oil change. After fresh 10 QTs of M1 15w50 + PF64 filter which always goes in prior to a track weekend, it's always at full top of fill mark tab. Throughout the entire track weekend of high temp driving in advanced group, lots of repeated long WOT pulls on long straights like ACS front up to 160 MPH and always 2 day weekends, my ZLE never burns a drop of oil. I bring it home and drive it on weekends in canyons for a few weeks and still doesn't burn a drop, then after a month or so I see it gradually start losing a little. My engine prefers to by run at full power, and oil temps in the 250+ range :-)

Mine takes 11 every time. Don't know why, but that's what it seems to go with.
