No wonder I kept putting it off. Working in footwell has always been extra "fun".

And I also just had to screw up something. Ended up breaking the glovebox damper cord. Will have to go to Michaels to get crimps to fix it.

I have been working on cars(between mine and a friend's NA Miata) for the past few days and feel so tired. Driving the car at night and seeing the footwell lights makes up for it, though.

Good job and don't feel bad about the glovebox damper cord. I did the same just replacing the cabin air filter in our Lincoln MKX.

I didn't take photos of it at night, just snapped a photo of the light itself. It lights up and matches with the colour you selected for your other RGB pieces. Of note, if you select a two-tone theme, the footwell lights will match the upper colour(the colour around the infotainment screen), not the lower colour(the colour of your cupholder light).

The brightness is pretty good for driving at night. You definitely know the light is there, but it's not distractingly bright.

Welp, I still really want to fix it, hence why I looked into replacing the assembly.

I tried to loop the cord today and it didn't work out too well. It turns out, the cords are a bit too thick for most crimp rings you can buy locally to work. You would have to buy crimp rings that are big enough on eBay and wait like 20 years for it to get here.

I know the damper assembly is held on by two screws and it just happens that I will need to head to the dealer for an oil change tomorrow(19% remaining and I have 1 HPDE and 1 open lapping day coming up), so I will just get a new assembly. The space is tight but I might be able to do it with one of those mini ratchet wrenches. We will see how that goes. I think it will take a bit of time just due to the tight spaces, but with the right tool, it should still be doable.

I finally got all the paperwork sorted and turned in for the polebarn.

It means my 1SS 1LE will no longer be squished in the garage in the next couple months or so :-)

Also going to wash it shortly for a car show this evening :-)

Today I joined the ranks of those few who have said: "Who needs a pry tool to drop the glove compartment?"

It wasn't to change the cabin filter either, it was because my car decided to pull a magic trick!

I was taking some paperwork to an appointment, so I popped open the glove compartment and rested the folded papers on top of everything I had in there. When I got to the appointment, I opened the glove compartment and the papers were gone! It instantly became clear that the papers had slipped over the back of the glovebox and we're inside the dash. Efforts to try and reach behind the glovebox to fish out the papers were unsuccessful.

Having swapped out the cabin air filter once before, I knew the challenge that was ahead of me. I managed to get both hinges popped out even though I had to pull and pry so hard with my hands that I was sure I was going to break the door before it came out. But I did get the glovebox pulled out without the aid of a pry tool, and was than able to fish the paperwork out of the dash.
