580 RWHP...no traction!

Hey everyone. So my car is an LS3 M6 with a Maggie and now at 580rwhp/562 tq. I got it on the track for the first time today. I got down the 1/4 mile in 12.5 because I just plain couldn't get the power to the ground. My 60' times were not good because I had to take it easy from the line or the tires would go up in smoke. I have an LT-1 Monster Clutch so the power is getting through that just fine. Here's my question though... Are guys at my power level running drag radials when using the stock drive shaft, diff, and axles? Should I be worried about breaking any of the stock drive train by using drag radials at my power level? Thanks!

The best was ~2.1. Any more on the gas and the tires broke loose from the line. I am running pzero tires and had them at 24lbs.

Those tires are the same as what came from the factory. They're garbage. Without going into a DR, there are better options such as Nitto, Michelin Sport. You're also not gaining traction because of the stock suspension. Start with some easy stuff like trailing arms and toe rods. To answer your other question, stock axles can go at any power level. I've seen them go at stock power, but also last up to 800. Your best bet is to try and find a used set, and sell your stock ones to offset what you spent. The weak points in the drivetrain are the axles, and gears. The DS will hold for a while depending on how you drive the car.

Here's what I'm thinking about ordering. Am I on the right track?

Umm, won't your tires still go up in smoke?

No traction is still no traction.

I had 2012LS3VERT on this forum put together a rear suspension updgrade that included solid subframe mounts, toe links, upper control arm bushings, and trailing arms. He shipped them to me for only $900. I am at 692rwhp/585rwtrq and I now put the power down. I used to spin 1st-4th and could break the tires loose at 70mph. I don't spin when I take off using Michelin PSS on the street. It's been raining so I have not been able to get to the track and see how I do with my NITTO DR but I will prob break something cause of my upgrades. Look up the you tube video about solid frame mounts. It's unbelievable how much the stock suspension moves around. Do the upgrade I did and you WILL put the power down.

Good start with the BMR stuff, but you still will want a better tire.

I agree with the need for better tires without a doubt. Probably go with the Mich SS. After some research this AM I'm leaning towards doing one upgrade at a time and hitting the track after each modification to determine which ones make the biggest improvement. After watching the old Pfadt subframe mount video I was shocked! I plan to start with solid subframe bushings/mounts then trailing arms and diff mount bushings. Let's see where I end up!

You should also replace the lower control arms.

Thanks. This is good info. Pretty much what my original plan was. Are you running stock drive shaft and axles with those drag radials?
