Can the dealer install a back-up camera

... in my 1LT?

I didn't think I would need it but my wife bought a car with it installed and I think it's spectacular.

Don't know about the dealer but there are after market back up cameras if the dealer can't. Probably be too expensive to have a dealer do it.

Yeah that's what i figured. I've seen the kits on the DIY site but they feed through the rear view mirror and I have a frameless rear view mirror that I'm quite fond of.

You may want to buy from a Camaro5 vendor. I haven't decided if I am going to buy a new head unit that has a camera input or buy the rear view camera. If I don't go with the new head unit I will buy the rear view mirror unit for sure.

Since you have a 1LT with MyLink, I'm pretty sure all you will need is the camera, bracket for the rear bumper and the wiring. The Mylink radio in your car should display the camera image once it's hooked up but it might need to be programmed.

Doesn't the BCM need a flash to make it work?

I bought the reverse kit from Ofer (2SSRS) and owner of gen5diy.com for my 2011 SS and the install was really easy. About 90 minutes start to finish. I wouldn't even want to know what a dealer would charge to install it. I don't know how different the 2013's are, but I would bet that Ofer could help you out.

Possibly - but the dealer can do that easily. I just wouldn't pay their ridiculous hourly fee to install the camera.

Looks like the gen5diy.com's camera is $460. That's probably a little too much for my current budget. Are there cheaper options out there?

send a PM to 2SSRS - the $460 includes the cost of the new rearview mirror. Which you wouldn't need. So you'd probably be able to get the kit for a decent bit cheaper.

For the 2011 you will need the camera and mirror, but it's a simple plug and play with the only permanent modification being the installation of the camera.

There might be cheaper options out there, but if you want it to look OEM, Ofer's kit is the way to go.
