It's a miracle! I thought that plant was so old, it was incapable of producing anything but the small sized Cruz? Now it can be used for building trucks? Amazing. I guess just not GM trucks or Blazers, but somehow the plant is workable for someone else. Maybe they never read GMs supposed rationale for closing the plant originally. Oh well.

If Workhorse wants to spend the money to gut the entire plant and reconfigure it for their needs, that's on them.

Clearly GM didn't find it economical to do so. There's also debate as to whether or not Workhorse will ever actually produce anything there.

Lucid, SF Motors, Faraday Future, what do they all have in common? I would not be surprised if Lordstown Motors joins this illustrious(?) club.

GM sells Lordstown to Workhorse

Workhorse has financial issues

GM buys Workhorse

GM ends up with Lordstown again

Profit?

Who is more likely to be wrong about what it takes to reconfigure an autoplant: a company that has set up a thousand assembly lines in its 100+ year history, or a startup that saw an opportunity to get a plant practically for free (and the associated good press)?

Don't forget Tesla. By any rational accounting measure, they're a failure & they've been the most successful of any of them.

What would you say if I told you HUMMER was coming back?

What if I told you it would be all electric vehicles?

It makes sense really. No one wants their size and capability with their fuel consumption - not even when fuel was relatively cheap. Make it electric to solve that is a no brainer.

On the one hand, it makes sense. Selling EVs to people want expensive toys a la Tesla. But on the other, how many EV buyers won't care about Hummer's gas guzzling legazy?

Wasn't it you that didn't like the idea of an electric pickup because you couldn't take it out into the boonies?

Hummers aren't pickups, and yes it's me because we don't have the infrastructure for it at this time.

Oh, and my current truck get's very good fuel mileage so no, I won't be buying a 100K electric any time soon.

I read an article not long ago which basically said that if the Hummer H2 and H3 came out today, they'd likely be more popular than they were at the time considering today's Truck and SUV boom. I have to say that I kind of agree with that. I'm saying with ICE engines and all.

But I have also heard GM could be considering Hummer for an all electric future. Hrrrmmm….we'll see!

Side note: What do you guys think about that Mustang Mach-E all electric SUV that is coming? Pictures and information leaked today. I have to say...I like it overall in the "GT" trim below. I'm not sure about the colored grille. Shaved door handles are nice. It also bugs me that they are calling it a "Mustang" and it even has the Mustang emblem on it (It's not a damn Mustang). The other thing that dings me is that they are using a huge Tesla style screen in the middle of the interior dash. Ugh...I can't stand the Tesla 3 interior.
