For another thing...

'vettes are sekzy, but faster isn't always better.

It's like comparing an F-16 to an A-10.

Why don'cha stand in front of my 30mm Vulcan cannon so I can take a snapshot.

Oh...okay. I guess you're right about this track. The VIR Grand Course is 3.27 miles long with a 2500' straight and a 3000'+ straight. I would surely hope that a car, like the GT500, that has 120 HP more than the GS Vette, would be able to run a pretty good time on a wide-open course like this. It has some technical sections, but this is a horsepower track plain and simple.

Pit these two cars against each other on most other tracks (most around the country are shorter and more technical without the multiple long straights) and you will find that the Vette out-handles (and subsequently runs a faster time) than the GT500 almost every time. The time gap would widen even further in favor of the Vette if the surface of the track isn't butter smooth. The straight axle cars don't like rough pavement mid-corner. The main thing is, it is just a factor of the platform differences between the two cars. One is a sporty car, and the other is a racecar for the street.

The 3LT Corvettes are really nice. I have an 08 Coupe that is a 3LT with NPP (dual mode exhaust), both tops, A6, NAV, two-tone interior. I love the car, but with the driving I am doing, I will kill the car in 2 years. I would rather find a person who will love the car and not put the boat loads of miles I would have to if I keep it. Mine is a little faster than the ZR1 Corvette and I can take the top off, thanks to a 418 and a couple other small mods.
Resale value on Corvettes does drop like a rock when you drive it off the lot. I bought my 08 in 08 with 10k miles on it. MSRP was $68k, but I bought it for $40k. Saving almost 50%, it was a no brainer.
Good luck with your decision...either way you win.

I'd take a grand sport over an SS but not the z28. I'd need the z06 to take the vette over a z28

This would be a serious killer of a decision for me. I for one dont look at the depreciation value though as I plan to keep the car for the long haul. I also mod my cars to the edge of streetability. The way I would look at it is the Z28 will be faster to a point with mods but once you get into the guts of the cars the GS would eat it for breakfast and have ferraris and lambos for lunch and dinner. A 3200lb vette with a true 50/50 weight distribution and 800rwhp should be illegal in all 50 states and no Camaro short of having a 1000hp is going to touch it much less all the euro trash. The factory body kit also allows for crazy huge meats out back to put the power down. My ideal GS would be a A6 coupe hard top. In fact I would take it over the Zo6 and ZR1 if I was going to mod the hell out of it any way. I actually hope when I get the SS paid off I can keep it and get a Vette also, then I would have the best of both worlds.
