Just to clarify, are you going to trade in your current SS to make the purchase?
If not, then absolutely get the Corvette. Corvettes are just awesome in performance and I don't care what people say, it still has style. Plus you would still have the regular SS to look more badass and exclusive, with the possibility of supercharging it.
If you do dump the SS either way, I personally would advise you to lean towards the corvette. Your points are about to expire and there are still too many unknowns about the z/28. besides, a few years from now the new generation of Camaros will probably be lighter, faster, and more economical, while still likely offering the Z/28, and at that time you might be ready to trade your Corvette in for a anew toy.

Z28 vs Vette
Camaro SS vs Vette

These thread pop up all the time. It's a matter of choice. What do you want? What are your needs? Most of us could have purchased a Corvette if we wanted one, but we chose a Camaro.

What would you rather see parked in your driveway? What car do you feel passionate about?

I sold it to my brother-n-law in 2008. He still enjoys it.
This will be my 5th Vette in 6 years. But yeah they are amazing. I had a 911 for a month or two, and somehow found myself back in the Vette. I jut love them. The Camaro is badd@ss though!

I know it's a matter of choice. But these threads are started to gather the opinions of others. I along with many others value the opinion of others. And saying that the majority of everyone on here could just go buy a Vette is a bold statement an is not a very fair comment to everyone. Not everyone is as fortunate as someone like you or me and others that can. Starting price on a entry level Camaro is $23k, a Vette is $50k. And a loaded SS $40k vs a loaded GS Vette is a little under $70k, that's just apples to oranges. The reason the average buyer's age of a Vette is 57 years old is because they are not attainable to the everyone.

What matt said.

The z28 will be 4000lbs if not more, especially if you get an automatic.

I would personally get the Vette, but I don't think that 500 over invoice is that great of a deal.
Nope its not safe to say. The S/Ced Z/28 could easily come with 575hp. That'll smoke a Corvette GS in the quarter. The Vette will no doubt handle better however.
I don't know why...but I've always owned Camaros, never wanted a Vette. But a ZR1 would be offly sweet.

I don't know about smoking the Vette GS, its no slouch. Even if the Z28 is alittle faster than the CTS-V it wouldn't smoke the GS considering the CTS-V is slower to begin with. The Z28 shouldn't be that much lighter either.

2010 Vette GS: 3.9 sec 0-60 mph / 12.2 sec @117mph 1/4 mile

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...est/index.html

2009 CTS-V automatic trans (manual trans 1 tick slower in each category): 4.3 sec 0-60 mph / 12.4 sec @113.7mph 1/4 mile

http://www.insideline.com/cadillac/c...lac-cts-v.html

I anticipate the Z28 being faster than the CTS-V, but even if it is I wouldn't say it is going to smoke the GS Vette.

Z28 will be better and faster and cost less. Since your points expire, maybe you should get the 'Vette, baby it, then trade it in on the Z28 in 2012. You'll get the fun of the Vette and that should tide you over til the Z28 comes out. Unless of course you wind up loving the Vette and opt to keep it.

Either way you can't lose IMO. Heck, you may even come out ahead even if you buy the Vette and then trade it in.

I may be late to this thread....

If you're not in need of a car NOW...I would wait for the Z, since I think it will be worth it, big time (of course, I don't have the ability to trade every couple of years -- so I've got to be 100% happy with what I pick). But it's your choice -- and the Vette is a great car!

I voted for the Z28, but I think this is the best of both worlds, if you can stick to the plan Don't want to waste the GM points

I'm doing this plan for sure. Getting the GS Vette now, waiting for the Z28 to hit floors. I'll drive one and read about it in tests and shootouts and make a decision if I want to trade the GS Vette towards the Z28 or just wait for the C7 Vette, depending on how it looks. If it looks liek the Sting Ray Concept I will not buy that. I don't think the Vette needs to go backwards to move fowards if oyu know what I mean. It is a bonified mini-supercar now and doesn't need the retro nostalgia factor to win over America. Now if it looks anything like this: (with a more updated front of the car)

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...and-track.html

the Z28 may never see my garage.

And I also ordered the GS Vette a couple of days ago I got a 2011 Torch Red/Cashmere Leather 3LT w/ Dual Mode Exhaust, Glass Roof, Navigation Package (for the Ipod USB Connect, like the Camaro), Magnetic Ride Suspension. I am so excited this car will be killer!

Are you SURE you got a Grand Sport Corvette? Magnetic Selection Ride Control is not an option on Grand Sports because they are essentially Z06s without the LS7.

Positive! It has been out there for a couple of months that you can, for the first time this year, order Magnetic Ride Suspension on the GS Vette.
