It's not an upgrade because it's the same lifter. You can upgrade to a set of lunati's lifters but gonna cost some cash.

Ls3/ls7 lifters are the same. The only set of hydraulic lifters I would use are johnson's with axle oiling. Morel and lunati are pretty popular as well. I'm getting ready to pull my heads any day now to get rid of these ls3/ls7 lifters. Not a fan.

it didn't sound loud like a rod bearing, more of a lifter tap.. very slight almost like they usually sound, because they do tick at times normally but this was a little louder and imo if it didn't throw any codes they probably would have said that its a normal sound these LS engines make.. but with a check engine light.. they have no choice but to fix it..

Talked to my service manager I like this guy, the wait is for the right person he wants to touch my car only. I have met this tech before very knowledgeable guy imo. Seems like the hydraulic part failed from what the sound its makes not the roller part. That seems odd to me ?! And bad roller would have a louder sound. This is faint and like I said without that chk engine light in sure they would have said that's normal for that engine family lol.

I dont think IMHO the oil change had anything to do with the lifter failure. We see them on stock cars as well as modded ones. LS7 or Cadillac lifters can have the same issue as stock LS3 ones, they are a hugely massed produced item. A set of LS7 lifters is about $120. Aftermarket ones like Morel are $650.

Usually it is the needle bearings that fail in them , then the roller gets smashed by the cam and then it locks up.

Well it wasnt a lifter. Bent valve cyl #8 exh valve. Got dammit !!! That's all my fault too. Hope they cover it. It's all stock so the my service adviser said as long as it hasn't been tuned I should be good ?! GM wants the info from the car. ��

Bent valve I might have over revved it. I'm not to sure on that. It's drove home fine. And then started with a check engine light. So idk. I was driving it aggressive the night before
