Depending on exhaust mode, drive mode, rpm and throttle position, the ECM opens or closes the valves, which modulates the exhaust note: when the valves are closed, the muffled path is used, so the exhaust is quieter; when they're open, the non-muffled path is chosen, which results in a much louder and throatier sound. The system is integrated into the infotainment and can be locked to a specific exhaust mode (stealth, tour, sport, track) or set up to automatically follow the selected drive mode. In my opinion, NPP is 100% worth the price.
