Need a little help, considering 2015 ZL1

Hey folks, brand new member here and been researching as much as time allows. A little history, I’ve had a bunch of fast cars plus years of track experience with SCCA.

Now I’m looking for a summer toy, and have set my budget at 40 to 50k, which puts the ZL1 & Z28 in my sights. I’ve already had a 760whp Vette, so not really looking to buy another although I did love the 427.

I’m trying to narrow things down, and pretty much zeroing in on a 2015 ZL1 either coupe or convertible, or perhaps a Z28.

I haven’t been able to find any options lists for these cars, and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find that so I’ll have better info in my used car search? Also, I’ve definitely decided I want the Recaro seats, were these available on the convertibles?

I’d certainly appreciate any help, thanks ahead for any responses!

Zl1 registry .com for the ZL1, I am sure just googling 5th gen Z28 will give you plenty.

Thanks, I already did that, but thanks for taking the time to reply

Edit: I meant the google comment, and sorry for the sarcasm.
The registry is a good source. I hadn’t found that yet and appreciate the suggestion. I’m mainly interested in responses from 2015 ZL1 owners, how they like the car, are they sick of it yet, would they rather have something different, etc

with a max budget of 50k, you could find a 6th gen ZL1 also. Do you prefer the 5th gen looks? I like my 5th gen old school look, so I am currently staying with it. If you are looking for a Z28 or a ZL1, you may consider saving an extra 8-10k and looking at a ZL1 1LE, best of both worlds unless you do not like a firm ride or M6? I would describe the ZL1 1LE as a supercharged Z28. I have started to see a few of them show up as used now..

Here is the 2015 Camaro Brochure in PDF.
This will let you know of the options available for a ZL1.
I recently picked up a 2015 ZL1 and It was EXACTLY how I would have ordered it from the factory.
Study the brochure and good luck with your search.
I almost forgot......Get one with the Recaro seats!

It all depends on what you want out of the ZL1. You've already had cars with plenty of power, you've already raced quite a bit. What will you use the ZL1 for?
Racing? Power? or just summer enjoyment?

If you just want to enjoy the summer, you can't go wrong with a ZL1 convertible.

However I have no idea on Recaro seats in a convertible.

BTW, the convertibles lack a few things the coupes have, such as the PTM, and their top speed is limited to 155mph.

My ZL1 has the hard top (reverse Mohawk roof). No sunroof or rag top for me.

Options on mine: 6 speed Automatic with tap shift, Recaro seats, Navigation, Remote Vehicle Start, Exposed Carbon Fiber hood insert.

As already mentioned. The convertibles, whether an automatic or manual trans, are limited on their top speed to 155 mph and they carry more weight too (over 200 lbs.)
The top speed for a hard top is rated at 180 mph for the manual trans and 184 mph for the auto trans.

I would figure out what you want out of the car; Either track and street performance or purely track and autocross racing, and go from there.

For everyday driving the ZL1 is well suited for this as well as the track. Shop around for mint examples and bargain hard. Good luck.

Why only 2015? I wouldn't limit your search to 2015 cars as the 2014 are identical.

Thanks all for your responses. I’m still not decided on a coupe or convertible, but probably the later as it will be a summer toy for me. As far as racing, it’s just my opinion from experience that the chassis is way too heavy for me. If I got back into the track scene I’d be racing formula, which is obviously no comparison. However, the 5th gen Camaro has the look I like and the heft to protect myself and others in event some mindless idiot in a 3 ton SUV clobbers us while they’re staring at their phone.

Back on point, I’d definitely want Recaro seats and a standard trans, and IMO last year body styles tend to hold their value longest/easier to find with low mileage.

I did take a look at the ‘15 brochure, it stated Recaro seats available, but coupe was in parentheses. Do any members have a vert with the Recaro?

Never been a fan of yellow but everything Yamaha ever put that color scheme on looked good. Looked fast.
