I did do manual calc and tire pressure was checked as stated above. It's odd that one car with same stats gives crap mps (mine) and another with same stats gives me so much more. Highway I had avg of 28mpg and city was around 23mpg. Compared to mine which city I'm getting 13mpg avg with highest going to 15mpg and lowest city was 10mpg. Highway around 18mpg...max was 24 one time.

STILL same thing here with my 2014 2LT RS...
Went from Detroit area in Michigan to Frankenmuth (north MI), around 85 * 2 = 170 miles on the highway. - Tire pressure: 38 PSI cold (!) - Shell's 89 oct fuel - open vert driving - never faster than 85 mph, usually around 75 - no stop & go - Reset of MPG counter 22.8 mpg !!! Having a little city traffic in Detroit area & at destination area (Frankenmuth city), the city-average of 14 mpg pulled my 24.2 highway-average down... However: THIS IS TOTALLY BULLSHIT !!!! I'm about figuring out how to get my car back to the dealer... But could be impossible, probably... :( => how to prove that the car has an issue and not me But please see my point: I bought a brand new car which is sucking the fuel like nothing else!!! You want 28-30 mpg? Better drive 55-60 mph, IMO. I don't think you're going to have much luck at the dealer.

@steffen - The mileage you are getting seems about right for the higher speed you are driving. Try doing 65 and a bit below and see what your results are.

In some cases, it's not the driver it's the car. I tried 2 identical cars and my results were way off. Mine gave me similar mileage as OP and my friends gave me normal like the rest of you guys.

Just got back from a trip to St. Igance and back. 750 miles round trip. Used 28 gallons. I had the cruise set for 73 MPH for most of the trip going north bound. While in st. Ignace, we did a cruise to the Tahquamenon Falls, attended a parade, did some fun spirited runs while on the 2 lane back roads. The trip home on the southbound side was with the cruise mainly locked in at 76 MPH, but I did make some higher speed runs moving around traffic.
So you can see for this trip I averaged 26.78 MPG. Not bad considering what I did while driving.

I drove from LA to Vegas and back this past weekend. It's only 260 miles each way but I tracked my mileage during the highway portion of the driving. Outside temperature ranged from 96 to 106 during the drive so I had the AC on on both trips. I used 91 octane on both trips, Mobil for the trip to Vegas and Shell for the trip back to LA.
LA to Vegas - 25.9 MPG, 68.8 MPH average speed Vegas to LA - 28.8 MPG, 65.9 MPH average speed I'm driving a 2014 2LT/RS. Only mods are Airaid modular intake tube, Elite catch can, and K&N air filter. |
