Let me start with a confession: I simply don't get the love for this concept truck, as in, I do not understand it at all. Without going into a subjective tirade, what's you guys' opinion on where the attraction is coming from? Can you enlighten me about the underlying mechanism that allows a troll marketing effort like this to actually work?

I am genuinely curious and am willing to set aside my personal bias and preconceived notions to consider any reasonable points made.

All the hype is coming from the fans of Elon Musk and serious Tesla owners. Just like any product, there are going to be diehards that support it no matter how bad, ugly or just plain stupid it might be.

Then you have to take into account any Cross-Branding that may occur. Mattel just did a pre-sale for a 1:10 and 1:64 scale R/C version of the Cybertruck. It sold out in minutes and is now reselling for crazy prices. Take a product that has a diehard base, pay some influential people to talk about it, and then wait for the fanboys and fangirls to oversell it.
